Good goal to be fair.
Three of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures in December have been rescheduled.
See the updated details for those matches below:
Shame that they did not schedule this one on Diogos birthday the day after.
Because it’s not going be painful enough for them?
That’s the last thing we need right now. I might be projecting but I thought we saw today the team get back into the game after the opening goal until the Diogo song on 20mins. The performance deteriorated almost instantly.
The tragedy is weighing heavy on the squad, and I don’t think the constant references back to Diogo during games are helping.
Indeed, the constant homages surely prevent those who were close to him from healing. I know it would have had such an effect upon me at least. It’s of course well meant, but I don’t think it helps anyone. Usually humans need time to mend wounds. I will not exaggerate, Jota was a team mate and not a wife or husband, but even so, being constantly reminded, I doubt it would be psychologically helpful for most people.
It certainly wouldn’t have been for me…
It’s impossible to know 100% in any case, but I don’t feel the 20th minute Jota tribute had much if any influence on the team’s performance around that period yesterday.
Yeah the Diogo tribute should absolutely not be an issue. If players are struggling then they will be regardless of ‘reminders’ and they will have lots of help to work through how they want to best deal with it.
Thank you Livvy…![]()
Jürgen speaks and others listen. This man is all of us but the voice we need to hear.
I so wish he was still in the dressing room helping our team to heal.
RIP Diogo

Yes.
Obviously Jota’s death has affected all the players. But we haven’t played well over 90 minutes, since the 5-1 win against Spurs last season, well before he died.
But you can’t assume the underlying causes of the poor form at the end of the last season is the same as the causes for the poor form now.
Four games in which we’d had the league won, and the players reasonably knocked off, are not really worth considering.
I think we all agreed that this thread should be a memorial thread and not used to discuss our performance.
Just saying
Very true. Thanks for the reminder.
