A bit disappointing only 3 gold medals for Irene Schouten. 
The Netherlands got 17 medals, 8 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze as predicted all but one on speedskating or short track.
That’s damn good for a nation that I wouldn’t put as a Winter sports “giant”. But I’m aware that I’m probably wrong on that front.
We are an ice skating nation over canals, lakes etc almost everybody who is born in the Netherlands learn how to skate from the age you can walk. So it develops from a young age. We have a lot of speedskating rings with a roof on them so you can train basically all year round.
We have all done this
