2026 FIFA World Cup qualification

Ask @mattyhurst

Also more at risk of prostate cancer. Why is the world cup thread discussing wankers? Must keep it on topic, i suppose.

Madrid/la Liga really is an environment to develop shithouses.

Can’t even joke on the pitch anymore with these voyeurs.

:joy:

Sounds like Donovan is already getting his panties in a knot

Donovan is a stone cold moron. I think it’s actively bad for the development of the game in a country without that many native voices of authority that he gets so much attention. He was not as good as he thought he was and is blind to the limitations of his experience and how his choices impacted that. His recent criticism of Pulisic is one of the most incredible shows of lack of self awareness from a pundit ive ever seen - criticising a guy for not showing up for the team from a guy who ran away from the challenge of playing in Europe twice and who once bailed on the US team for an entire year during a critical part of qualifying

That’s because they’re a bunch of gay commies.

What’s wrong with being a gay communist.

I’m not a communist though probably had that leaning at 16

They angry that they have to host Qatar and Algeria, two countries where homosexuality is a criminal offense.

Communism is on the other hand fine in those countries (I just made this part up, sounds good)

one of these days, a tournament ( be it football or another major) will finally not ā€˜live up to the hype’ and the signs will be proven correct.

but every tourney, we hear the drums of doom beating only for match day one to be an ā€˜amazing success’ and a ā€˜unification of the people’

its more than just a few edits on the cutting room floor, although that does obviously happen…there seems theres enough people, with enough money, to keep the machine bumbling along.

its almost a false hope that one eventually fails… i mean, Qatar hosted the fecking thing,…Qatar…and it was still a ā€˜roaring success’

as a side not, football throws out some amazing memorable quotes, probably the one that makes me laugh in part disbelief and in part absolute astonishment about the balls on the guy is the;

ā€˜today i am an immigrant’ speech… man, what a cunt.

although not a quote, the ā€˜FIFA Peace prize’ gives me the same reaction…

ā€˜FIFA peace prize’…and that bald knob of a head grinning like the cat who got the cream giving the Don his little shiny medal…im actually laughing while i type this

See it and I’ll believe. Otherwise it’s all talk and no action.

on what grounds?

i mean, if you wouldnt boycot the Qatar one, on what grounds would Germany use to boycott the US one?.. what? talking about wanting Greenland?, is that worse than, say, invading Crimea?, or thousands of workers dying?

interesting

I’d love something to split/break FIFA. A European repudiation of the world cup would be the most immediate way to start that.

There was talk about boycotting Qatar but it was all fart and no follow through. I suppose one difference is the Trump administration’s support for the German far right and embracing elements of Nazi ideology.

For the boycott to be effective, you need other high profile nations pulling out, such as Brazil, France, England, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Argentina etc.

The way Trump has been insulting all the NATO allies not being on the frontline during armed conflicts around the world, he is creating a boycott by himself with his derogatory comments about our armed forces.

The late Mother Teresa could create a country, host the games, and there would still be some moronic politician finding something wrong with it.
