Isn’t just the pricing though is it. It’s the US government looking to start wars with anyone and everyone.

That, and insane (anti) immigration policies, children and fat arsed country bumpkins cosplaying in military gear, wearing masks, and carrying semiautomatic rifles. This country has become a shithole thanks to Dump, and his spineless republican cohorts.

Bosnia & Herzegovina knock out Italy to make the World Cup.

Italy have failed to qualify for the WC 3 times in a row now.

Three world cups in a row :see_no_evil_monkey:

And weirdly won the Euros in that time.

Italy is another one, fallen off a cliff. Very strange, not seeing the Azurris not qualify for the World Cup again. I remember watching all the superstars in that time. I always loved watching Italy and they always were one of the most stylishly dressed squads and made defending look like a piece of art.

The Serie A league has also gone down in standard.

They just need to go back to basics now and start again from the Academy.

I am happy for Bosnia Herzegovina to qualify though. I love cheering on the small nations. It is not easy to qualify for a World Cup against the big established football nations.

In Scotland, it was always called supporting the Diddies. As Scotland hadn’t qualified for so long, they would always adopt the smallest nation as their proxy team.

I always support Scotland regardless as well. Since my cousin/housemate are adopted glaswegians as they have lived there so long. We always put up a Scotland flag up for the international sporting events.

Just wondering what the general mood is on TAN.

Will you all be watching the World Cup tournament?

Sorry M, no I won’t. I’m not a great fan of international football anyway, as it seems bound up with too much nationalism for my liking. Then there’s the revolting corruption in FIFA, which completely spoils the game, and it’s being held in yet another fascist country and will be an excuse for Trump and co to strut and preen.
Altogether the whole idea of it disgusts me.

I will watch the Scotland games as it’s the first time they have been there in nearly 30 years (last time I watched most of them from a pub in Glasgow!)

Unfortunately, due to the stupid kick-off times I’ll have to record them and watch them Likely Lads style.

I will probably watch one or two other games, but I am really put off with the whole organisation. It’s been on a downward spiral since the Brazil competition in 2014. TBH, I much prefer the Euros.

For Italy, it’s not only missing the last 3 WC’s.

But in the last 2 they qualified for (2010 and 2014), they got knocked out in group stages won only 1 game. I remember especially being negatively surprised by them in 2014.

Yes, since gold in 2006, 20 years ago, Italy have qualified for 2 WC’s and won 1 game.

5 days…

But the main thing is you got there in the end.

Iraq were playing their play off game against Boliva in Mexico this week. A group of travelling Iraqi fans were connecting through Dallas and were attacked in the airport by some dumb fuck MAGA chud telling them ā€œyou don’t get to do that hereā€ while holding a flag and singing football songs (in Arabic).

Their world cup stats are wild.

  • After failing to qualify 3 times in a row it means their last game in the tournament was the Suarez bite game
  • They went out in the group stage in the previous two tournaments meaning their last win in the KO stages was the final in 2006, a date that predates the release of the first iphone

I just double checked how Sweden made it through as I thought they had been doing poorly. It turns out my recollection was right. In qualifying they won 0 games and lost 6 of their 8. But they earned a play off spot for winning a group in the previous Nations League…but in League C, the third tier in which they were drawn against Slovakia, Estonia, and Azerbaijan. In these playoffs they had to get by Ukraine and Poland.

That’s a bit of a piss take.

And I don’t think it was posted here, but last month Sweden and Potter have extented their contract until 2030.
