Yes, no clear vision for the āprojectā can be articulated by someone who has the experience and authority to commit to promises about how they will get there. Schmadke was only a temporary negotiator, but he was still implementing plans on what was a very clear vision he could sell with authority and conviction. Newcastle dont have that. And not just becaue Ashworth and then Mitchell left, but that they did during a period when the initial trajectory Newcastle imagined for themselves had to be reimagined and a different path forward created. What is the story now? How do you sell that to players?
Couple that with them seemingly not offering āthis is beneath you but weāll pay you to make up for itā wages and its a project that isnt as exciting as a lot of people assumed it would be

I think Newcastleās biggest issue this summer is the lack of leadership and expertise behind the scenes. I donāt mind Howe and heās a good football man. His perma-tanned sidekick is another matter.
But above them thereās nothing, so the Isak situation has bubbled over, and their recruitment has been dodgy as.
Mind you, I still think they will get a striker in, and I still think Isak will be our player soon enough.
Maybe Watkins is the way to go? Get a couple of years out of him while installing some expertise behind the scenes to plan it all out a bit better.
The question Iām wondering about is how committed are the Saudis? They could have done a new stadium, or revamped it, and new training facilities, without touching PSR. Are they wavering?

I donāt think Ollie Watkins is the worst signing as a stop gap, I agree on Howe, I am a bit disappointed he went there but look at Bournemouth you canāt disagree what he did to get them back from the brink was nothing short of a miracle.

I think the only problem with schmadke was that he was unable to have talks on contracts as it was clear he was a temporary hire.
But Trent probably have left regardless.

Villa at this point will see sandcastle struggling and will not want to strengthen their rival even if they are in the FFP problems.
