I would stop supporting this club if Liverpool were taken over by Saudi Arabia or some other country with such human rights violations.
Newcastle United could spend up to ÂŁ190m in January without breaking Financial Fair Play rules, with Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane, 28, and France forward Kylian Mbappe, 22, âwithin reachâ. (Telegraph - subscription required)
I think weâd all take 78 trillion for Origi.
Iâd argue that one of the few rights that you have is to hold any opinion you choose. And suffer the consequences of expressing / acting on them.
Yes, thatâs better expressed. Freedom of speech is not freedom of consequence.
Not too far from this definition though:
I guess that all signings should be judged against the playing system of the new manager rather than Bruce but these two would be smart bits of business unless Newcastle give them unreal wages.
They wonât be a threat for a while, as they need to build it up. In the meantime, they will stick a lot of money into the game to get the wheels turning again, post-pandemic.
I can imagine this will be another factor that gives our owners pause for thought about selling up, and/or exploring other versions of a European Super League.
Looking at the Prem alone, once Newcastle are up to speed you would have to think that will be three artificially inflated clubs in the top four, then just one spot left for all the others who operate by fair means?
The sense of fair competition will dwindle, and the cost of competing for the title might not be worth the return on investment for those who are making a business investment, and not a sports washing one.
They will have difficulty getting rid of a lot of their current players also.
Or will theyâŚ
âHey, Joelinton. Weâve got a one-way ticket to Istanbul for you. First class all the way!â
Like I wrote before a lot depends on how they stand in the table in December / January.
If they stay in the relegation zone they wonât be able to bring in better players like Tarkowski for example.
If they manage to get some points and look a bit more comfortable they might be able to get players like Coutinho, Bale, Lingard, ZahaâŚ
how many of the current Newcastle players will see out the 2022 ?
There are many oligarchs and unethical or even mafia style groups, who own clubs all over the world. Some easy to identify, and some hidden behind equity groups.
The problem is âgovernments/statesâ controlling FCs which are corporate/legal business entities.
Itâs taking the traditional âbusinessâ competition to a different level - maybe a style of game of thrones between states/countriesâŚ
Maybe modern day war fair, which Iâd be happy to see it unfold instead of real war aimed at achieving imperialistic goals by redrawing border lines.
Unfortunately for me, business is a way to a means to achieve certain political goalsâŚ
Iâll just go buy another âHippies were rightâ sticker.
If money is basically no object, you can afford to sell at a huge loss.
Wonder how long it will take before they remove St. George cross from the NUFC badge.
Reminds me of Real Madrid story a few years ago. They have a small cross at the top of their badge, but I believe an alternate was designed, sans cross, for Muslim markets.
I know that FFP is kind of a joke but wouldnât they easily breake the FFP rules if they spend ÂŁ200m in January.
Especially without European football.
I mean, isnât the basic FFP rule âyou can not spend more money than you earnâ?
pretty sure its over something like a three year rolling period and alot the complications only apply once you are in europe.
that probably explains the outlier of being able to smash out a few big transfer windows.
