they wont, will sell them at cents on a $. money/losses are not an issue for them. their plan is to build a super team as quickly as possible
exactly thisâŚthey will literally give them away for free
Are you saying if this mob purchased LFC you and everyone on here would walk away? Iâm calling BSâŚ
I would yes,100%.
Just on initial reactions it looks like 50% or so would walk away. Personally, Iâd be much less committed to the club.
Not everyone is saying they would walk away but those that are, including myself, would until ownership changed. No need to be dismissive of that view because you canât, donât, or wonât feel the moral qualms that we do. Have a word.
I think I was the first one to say I would walk away.
Iâm investing around âŹ600 a year for Sky and DAZN to watch all our games. I would surely end my subscriptions.
More importantly I would stop investing so much time watching ALL our games, following news and being here on TAN.
I would probably watch a game here and there and follow a bit of news and surely wouldnât spent so much time here anymore.
Iâd walk away too, or at least reduce my âsupportâ to the level of a just a passing interest.
In the past I used to like Newcastle and its fans. I felt that there was a working class affinity between us. But once they started with all that âsign onâ and âbin dippersâ bullshit, then I was done with them and took pleasure in seeing them suffer under Ashley.
Theyâre really showing their true colors now. All they care about is football at the expense of any moral considerations. They epitomize the southernersâ idea of stupid northern thickos. Hope they do get relegated this season, but unfortunately theyâd bounce right back with all that money behind them.
I donât think I would walk away, tbh. I would hate our owners, but I would do some sort of mental gymnastics to still watch the footy and support the reds. Deep down I know it wouldnât be the same, but I would probably still support the boys. Not the owners, mind. And thatâs the split I would do in my mind. Probably.
As itâs all hypothetical.
Bit harsh suggesting I would have no moral qualms - I never said that. I hate everything about what this Bin dude represents. But I would never walk away from LFC whatever the circumstances which seems to be in the minority over this hyperthetical. Thatâs fine everyone has a view.
Guaranteed no Newcastle supporters are walking away and the whole point was the hypocrisy of the situation.
All 19 clubs? So even Man City and Chelsea have complained? The reason mentioned below is bit too ironic. If the reason was the regime itself, it was a different story. Still Man city shouldnât be the ones complaining no matter what.
The arrival of a new set of billionaire owners is bound to have upset clubs who see on the horizon a far more competitive Newcastle and the prospect of St Jamesâ Park wealth inflating transfer fees and wages
The time to complain was couple of decades back. Doubt anything will change now.
âAnd there are others still (Newcastle fans) â the ones in the thobes, the ones with the Saudi flag in their social media avatars, the ones who have issued scrawls of abuse to Khashoggiâs widow for daring to challenge the morality of the takeover â who are perfectly happy to embrace it, to do precisely what the Saudis want them to do.â
Please let them get relegated.
You have to laugh at the PLâs âfit and properâ test. It doesnât matter if the prospective buyer is financially insolvent or a multi-billionaire; a benevolent benefactor or the reincarnation of Hitler and Stalin. God forbid he messes in any way with the broadcasting rights though.
There quite honestly couldnât be a single worse person on the entire planet who should be put in charge of a PL football club than that smirking murderous POS.
Pretty good read thiz.
He shouldnât be there in any position of power.
Yes over a certain period⌠but Newcastle have been running at a profit ever since Ashley took over
Saw a story earlier that heâs now looking at Derby.
I think judging by the messages so far, it seems like they want to take the City approach. Long term, building up the club, not only personnel but putting money into structure and infrastructure (and boy do they need it, plenty reports of their training ground simply not being up to the standard of a PL club).
But⌠early messages are always like that, I guess. What else do you say other than weâre gonna take this calm and collected, not doing crazy things, etc. One thing Iâm 100% sure if that itâs certainly not as fans imagine and it will also take time. Iâm pretty sure IF they ever get to a level of competing or winning the league, there will be quite a ton of players who they initially bought in early years who will not be there anymore when/if that happens.
What they say actually makes sense. They first have to survive in the PL. Then, they have to put the right structure in place. Then, they have to look at revenue and try start squeezing the maximum they can. FSG did that really well with us, slowly and finally putting the club in line with modern times.
Throwing players on a pile now Football Manager style doesnât make sense, but obviously they will need maybe 2-3 improvements immediately. They have enough time until January to assess or possibly solve the manager situation. But for that to happen, we have to see who makes that footballing decision? So we go back to structure. Weâll see who they have lined up.
Now, they should also be careful about which players to bring in. I think for now, it will be a mixture of underwhelming but realistic (maybe difficult to understand for the impatient mass public) and probably somewhat overpaid players also. Some of the names being thrown about I just donât see them attracting/completing for now. Not only now but probably not in the first year or two of three. Then, we will see what foundations theyâve put in place and we can judge better what could be their ceiling for the next, say, 10 years or so.
Itâs not the same as City (who were in a better place when the takeover happened) and not to mention Chelsea. So even if they have the richest owners (doesnât mean everything), it could take more time with Newcastle to join that group on the pitch.
Looking more long term, Iâll be also interested if they look at the St. Jamesâ situation with the other two much smaller stands. But I guess that one is a long way ahead, if even then. Putting the right footballing people in charge of football places to build the football structure is now the priority (could take time and obviously they will need players possibly before that is all in place), along with probably solving the training ground question.
