Geordie Arabia.

Oily Shore.

(not a clue if there’s any oil or if oil is a thing in SA)

Squires was on form with his take on Newcastle and Saudi Arabia. Reading him in the Guardian today, I didn’t know the British government may have intervened in this one, to protect a trade deal. It was the part of the cartoon where the redacted report was made to look like the Newcastle kit.

If that happened, and it tilted the deal towards being approved, it is a huge scandal.

A satirical piece but cruel at the same time considering the murdering of Khashoggi. Something similar might have been posted earlier or in the joke thread?

NewSaudiCastle United it is then.

Looks like Wesley Fofana is their first transfer target.

There may be a few bets placed by Chelsea personnel on Oxlade-Chamberlain to Newcastle after today :grimacing:

I read that. Wacky news, eh? He may not be fit for months. Pretty sure they need better defending now, not in some indefinite future. Pay for a top class guy who can’t play then have to sell him when they get relegated. Not a great start.

If that is the case then I think Amanda Stavely’s 5-10 years is optimistic.

Would we let Matip or Phillips go for ÂŁ20+M?

Not Matip - he has to stay - One of the top 5 CBs in the league.

Phillips yeah… Matip no in my view.

It would make sense to let one or both go over the next 1-2 years.

My take would be Matip for 30+M in the summer or/and Phillips for 20+M in the Jan window…

We shouldn’t be selling them anyone who will vastly improve them, I know Matip can’t play more than 2 games a week it seems but he wouldn’t need to there, plus to me he is our best CB after VVD and on current form our best.

Would you rather sell Gomez or Konate?

They will have money and we can sell for an inflated price - what’s not to like. Also, as good as Matip is, his level will not be as high there. Here he plays with world class players around him and coaching staff and a medical team that know him really well - that cannot be replicated there (or anywhere else) any time soon.

Realistically we would never get 30+M for him if we do not sell to them.

I’m sorry but at what point do we have to sell one of our CB’s to Newcastle? Wasn’t the whole point in keeping the 5 due to what happened last season.

As I said I’d sell Phillips for 20m+ as I think he is a bit surplus but we don’t need to sell them anything if we don’t want.

Why are people wanting to sell our CBs to Newcastle.

Madness.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I seem to remember a pretty big debate on selling Matip and Phillips last season.

I guess Matips performances this season have rightly changed that view.

With regards to their immediate transfer targets, if it were me I’d be looking to target the ‘stars’ from the teams they’d be hoping to overtake first, so destabilizing them while improving their own team.
