Just realised that the NUFC proclamation had a link to the following ‘United as One’ initiative with the purported aims of:
1 Valuing difference (equality, diversity and inclusion);
2. Keeping people safe
The utter cynicism of these cunts really needs to be addressed. This sort of astroturfing is pernicious and can even undermine social trust and democracy.
Just like I bet all these people taking the fake moral high ground would have called Bruce a gigantic massive fuck off pie head before commenting how shit he is as a manager.
I think it’s important to reflect on the fact that Bruce had cancer, which has left scarring on his face, before anyone comments on just how big his head is.
Is he honestly crap? Certainly no Klopp but given he’s always managed at clubs where relegation is a real risk I do wonder.
Perhaps I’m being over sympathetic to the position he found himself in being labelled surplus to requirements as soon as the sale went through. Must be harsh being labelled crap all over the press etc.
I’m pretty sure his win rate is at best 40% for some clubs and around 30% for others… His average is 37% I get he’s managed some poor teams, but he’s also managed in the Championship and never dominated.
I know what you mean. I guess the question I should be asking is “Has he taken a club to a higher position than they expected to be given squad strength, finances etc?”
I guess the answer to that is no, but I couldn’t say. I’ve not really been watching.
Ole for example is to my mind the exact definition as someone I would avoid appointing. He’s been given resources and has struggled to deliver on it.
I can’t stand any of the “english” mafia managers - Allardyce, Hughes, Bruce, Curbishley, Hodgson, Pardew, Warnock etc. Who bounce around the West Brom, Newcastle, Palace type clubs and earn a fucking fortune.
All massively limited yet constantly given jobs at struggling teams, getting a new manager bounce, then failing miserably.
if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck. chances are, it’s a duck.
I hadn’t the foggiest clue who she was before all this, so I read the Wiki. Sure, nothing indicates she’s done anything wrong. But reading between the lines…
Because you are a WUM, and just like real life I have no time for people like that. Here ends my engagement, lost more brain cells for it, I should know better.
let’s be fair here. you cannot just jump into the role of a premier league manager. the levels of courses and experience you have to achieve just to be licensed at that level. then there’s the experience you have to gain to be even considered for the job.
I’d hardly say that “stealing a living” is even remotely fair to say.
I harken back to a fella by the name of Paul Lambert who used to manage Norwich. very likable fellow, always spoke well of his team and the opposition (even when Suarez was tearing them apart) and he was recently floating around the League1/Championship levels.
I look at it like this: If someone’s willing to pay you that sum of money, that’s on THEM, not you. your task it to keep getting paid.
I think the point is well made, but it’s probably also dated now. There was a time when they all managed in the lower reaches of the Prem, but not any more. I’m not up to date on how many of them are even working in football management, but they aren’t in the Prem any more.
The jobs they seemed to be given are now being given to a new breed, and long may it continue.
I’m thinking the likes of Hassenhuttl at Southampton, and Vieira at Palace. They may or may not prove to be the best thing since sliced bread, but I like a lot of what I’ve seen, even if Ralphie might be struggling a bit right now. Even Farke at Norwich, who are struggling largely because of the resource gap, seems to be a decent fella who sends his team out to try to play football. He knows that they are an in between club, Championship/Prem, so has set his stall out to make them one of the best 25 clubs in England.
Anyway, leaving the details aside, I think the old jobs for the boys thing was a factor, and was a legitimate criticism, but things look to have moved on now. Thankfully.
I have to weigh in with my two cents here. While I’m very much against seeing such managers appointed in PL (outdated football, no long-term building of any club they’ve set foot it, no player development etc.), what actually makes them even more repulsive in my eyes is the fact that their clubs have taken an awful lot of points from Liverpool. I only blame Liverpool for that, though, and the referee who didn’t deem a goal deflected from a beach ball to be against the rules. I’m sad that Bruce as a human being has endured so many personal tragedies and disastrous things in his life in such a short period of time, though.
