Al-Sandcastle - the sportswashing barcodes

A word of advice Eddy; if things aren’t going well, don’t visit the Saudi Embassy. :biohazard:

My mates from up home are all pleased with the appointment.

Where’s that? Sunderland?

I’m totally unsure how this will go.

His Bournemouth record speaks volumes but that was a team punching upwards. Not sure he had much say in their purchases.

They will he far more entertaining than say the last two years, would say as a Championship team they seem far more balanced now than they did after Howe left. He meant something to those players though, maybe he stayed too long but can he emulate that. His one journey outside Bournemouth was pretty mundane.

I think if Southgate had gone he would have been the right choice for England.

The might Howe to the richest club. Ha ha ha.

According to the Telegraph, Howe took in sessions with Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and Andoni Iraola at Rayo Vallecano, along with two days at Liverpool’s training ground in Kirkby.

There, he held talks with sporting director Michael Edwards – to discuss his approach to recruitment – and academy director Alex Inglethorpe.

Inglethorpe was questioned on “how the club have overhauled their structure over the past decade to a level that allows them to overcome financial drawbacks and consistently compete with Manchester City.”

Howe’s title at Newcastle is head coach, rather than manager, which suggests that he will not have a major role in either recruitment or youth development.

That last paragraph seems to suggest his two days at Kirkby chatting with Edwards and Inglethorpe were pointless for his new position.

Strange take.

Should have posted the link in the first place.

He probably is planning long term if he leaves Newcastle or to help shape the Newcastle rebuild.

Haha.

I thought it must have been from The Telegraph but it seems that the nonsense paragraph came from TIA.

This explains it

The first thing they need is defence help, so realistically how much would we let Nat go for? Or will we need a 5th choice CB because of Joe and Joel, who will at some stage have some type of issues ruling them out for a few games. I assume we could also recall Sepp if we were in an emergency situation.

Let’s consider that White went for £50m, and that Newcastle are theoretically desperate, and there is not much quality in the market.

I think we would have sold Nat for £10-15M in the quiet market in summer, but if Newcastle come calling now, it will be more like £25M.

Looking at Toon’s upcoming fixtures, it isn’t particularly promising for a new manager. The chance is there for a great start with Brentford and Norwich among the first three, but having an early must-win is not ideal. Worse, they start December with another must-win (Burnley, at St. James), and then from there a fairly nasty December that runs a real risk of seeing them well back of 17th by the time the transfer window opens. Very, very high pressure start for Howe.

Fat Sam trying to encourage Newcastle to sign Origi in January.

Interesting. Origi is a good player, and if he plays regularly he will be in the goals. At Liverpool we all know the score - some great moments, even a nice showing last time out, but he won’t sustain it, mostly due to not getting a run and keeping any rhythm, and at least partly due to going through the motions.

We love him, but a sale would be fine. We can get Danjuma with the money, who seems to be of interest.

Beyond that, limiting it to strikers, we need to be seeing who is going to sign a long term deal, or moves will be afoot with either Mo or Sadio before too long.

Well he would

nah, howe is shit. He’s like Rodgers with frank Lampard level of defensive cluelessness

This is going to end bad. Especially for a side looking to escape relegation.

Sam Allardyce played Football Manager as Newcastle with £200m. This is the XI he ended up with
