Pretty sure I’ve heard Newcastle fans singing Rafa’s song near the end of the game.
Pretty sure I’ve heard Newcastle fans singing Rafa’s song near the end of the game.
Looking at their XI today, just watch out for this little triangle…
LCB: Burn, LB: Manquillo, LCM: Joelinton
They probably still wish for him to be back but i would like to think rafa has the moral fiber to not pick them when howe invariably gets fired
I hope so too. He always seemed like someone who understood the bigger picture.
Allan Saint Maximum single handedly getting them out of trouble, he’s at the heart of everything good they do…perhaps the most electric player in the league.
His pace causes chaos in opposition defences, there’s no doubt about that. I just wish, he’d calm down a bit, when he gets in or near the penalty area. A little less ‘headless chicken syndrome’ and he would score a lot more goals. A coach like Klopp, would improve his game dramatically.
Doesn’t look like they will go down now
Might take some time until this affects us - probably until we need to make some bigger changes in the squad when Klopp leaves.
But I can imagine that they will pay some crazy fees to buy players in the summer and I think clubs like Arsenal and Spurs will struggle to bring in their targets already.
Am i the only guy who feels that the success of the premier league and the worldwide fanfollowing of the premier league clubs (liverpool , man utd ,arsenal majorly) has led to roman taking over at chelsea and the arabs at city and newcastle.
Quite depressing that in a way , liverpool and their success leads to this.
Yes, and they may well unsettle players at other clubs. Someone like Joe Gomez, for example.
Trippier out for a while - fractured metatarsal (5th). A bastard of a place for a bone to heal
Huge blow for the toon - that’ll throw the relegation odds around a bit.
I am such a nice guy that I don’t enjoy dicks playing for evil clubs getting injured. I really want them to go down though, even more than Everton.
Same for me. It’s vital that they go down as that means at least two years lost for them on their development curve, possibly more. Trippier’s injury is unfortunate, but if this is what it takes…
Looking like they staying up, such a shame it would be hilarious to see them in the championship.
Metatarsal injuries are far too common these days, probably because of the ‘slippers’ they play in now. I don’t remember ever hearing of such an injury in my Adidas Santiago and Adidas 2000 days.
I don’t think we knew what a metatarsal was?
Like a lot of injuries you just got on with it!
Was it the World Cup in 2002 where the metetarsal injuries to Beckham and Rooney happened just before.
Don’t think I had ever heard of it before then
2002 World Cup was Beckham.
From memory, I think Rooney was during 2004 Euros and then pre 2010 World Cup again.
No, Woolton is absolutely correct. The incidence of metatarsal injuries shot up with the introduction of ‘blades’ in particular, but pitches are also harder than they used to be as even natural pitches are very commonly sand-drained now at top level.
Blades, hard pitches, thin boots… all adds to the metatarsal list. Lots of sneaky standing on the oppositions foot seems to have come into the game too - back in the day you would go through someone, and it would look bad. These days people stamp, or more often, stand on the opposition players foot, and at speed, with a blade, and the thin material, it’s a sore one.
Trippier had just scored a couple and Newcastle were looking like they were climbing out of it. I still think they will avoid relegation, but this will make it a bit harder for them. Good.
