Al-Sandcastle - the sportswashing barcodes

Sandcastle, and Asre are both thin on the ground with squad back-up… Both will fall away soon enough me thinks

This is the sports washing thread, right? So I thought I post this in here.

As I watch Newcastle, I see a team that bought a few key pieces (not so many) and a good manager and have raised their play considerably. Also, those players raised the level of the guys already there, notably Sean Longstaff and Joelinton and Callum Wilson. Meanwhile, former go-to Saint-Maximin struggles for playing time. Some of the guys they brought in seem to have raised their own level. Dan Burn notably. Ignoring who the owner is, one has to admire how much bang Newcastle are getting for their buck. We’ll see if they can sustain it and get into the Champion’s League.

Hopefully not, because it they do, it would most probably be at our expense.

As I said in the EFL thread, Newcastle’s sudden improvement with very few additions to their relegation threatened teams is not at all suspicious.

Not confirmed and hope not both Vince and SA in charge probably kills it.

Sports Washing next level.

A company like WWE basically finances itself with Ticket sales, TV Deals, Merchandise sales etc.

It’s so huge they are able to sell out arenas anywhere on the planet.

Yeah apparently it’s being discredited now, did think it was a bit quick, no doubt they are in the running mind.

I think they have turned over their team to a sneaky degree. Burn, Trippier, Wood Bruno and Willock collectively joined a team that went into the winter window in 19th place without having won a game. The team they become finished 10th. Of that group Trippier barely played because of injury so he is more or less a new addition to that group.

Even just leaving it at that you’d have expected a further improvement based on their second half, but that also added Botman, who by all accounts has been very impressive, Pope and Target. Admittedly it isnt eye catching stuff, but it is near enough a full new team and leaves them with only about 3-4 players still playing regularly who were part of the team that saw them facing relegation.

If this is true, what are the crossover possibilities? Each Newcastle player should decide whether they are hero or villain? Wearing wrestling masks to intimidate opponents? Scantilly-clad, musclebound female presenters?

Genuine deathmatches?

Saudi embassies hosting the games :expressionless:

It apparently leaked from someone called Kermit on Reddit and a few people ran with it. (Seriously).

Easier to spread when one of the names of the McMahon clan was stepping down.

It’s one of my escapes from football and I really need it so I hope it ends up in one of the networks in America.

The undercurrent to this is that Vince only last week came out of retirement which was announced at the same time as them being in negotiations to sell the thing. Things had been going well, and the person at the company who otherwise would have lead negotiations is very respected, and so there was little obvious reason for him to come back. So there has been a lot of guessing and second guessing of why he would and one of the favoured theories is that he was the only one willing to deal with PIF so inserted himself into the negotiations to get the best short term sale price. If that were true youd expect the deal to be at a point where they could close it pretty quickly

I thought he stepped down after some incident - was he pushed?
In which case is it possible that he had spoken with PIF asking them to buy WWE with the intention of running it again?

Yup.

They are still ongoing and unsurprisingly it’s rearing it’s head again.

Anyhow probably should be elsewhere.

He was pushed after disclosure of multiple sexual assault pay offs. But that was mostly a PR thing and its still run by close family so.

Run by his daughter and Nick Khan, to be fair the board was set, he removed three executives and stuck himself back on and then two left (one of those who was major in investigating him in the first place).

Deffo some changes by him taking back charge. Product aside which will go down hill with him back sadly.

not like the WWE was built on quality anyways. just a cartoon in human form.
