Al-Sandcastle - the sportswashing barcodes

So predictable. This will be so indefensible from a sporting perspective that I almost hope they go ahead with it just to force it out into the open.

Think this could actually work against themā€¦ As soon as they bring a ā€˜loaneeā€™ from the Arab world, they announcing to the footballing world that they little more than ā€˜Cheatsā€™ā€¦ and it is never likely to be forgotten

This is why Iā€™d have second thoughts of any Salah deal.

Iā€™m really glad it didnā€™t happen in the summer now as you know who would be heading back here.

If they want Hendo and Fabinho mindā€¦ fine

So for example they are able to sign Gabri Veiga (who went to Saudi for Ā£30m in the summer) for Ā£1m and thereā€™s nothing FFP can do about that?

Exactly. Essentially money-laundering. At some point, the PL will need to add ā€˜fair marketā€™ and ā€˜related partiesā€™ language, and we will spin the wheel again. But Newcastle may be on the cusp of the greatest transfer window in history.

*Kaveh Solhekol does talk garbage

I can see it damaging this league in the long run though so there maybe bonuses to this.

Perhaps a limit to the amount of loans should have been looked at.

i read Man City voted for the ban on the grounds it was unfairā€¦

So who are this 7 and how much did the brown envelopes contain ā€¦

Howard Webb was there too to discuss the standard of refereeing and VAR, he came to an easy conclusion, it is a bunch of incapable idiots but as long as they keep their bias towards Liverpool I keep them on ā€¦

Its definitrly concerning - having said that if all they get out of it is a Gabri Veiga then I think weā€™ve got off lightly.

They have it for signings, just not for loans. IN fact other than clubs having to comply with Premier league squad rules, unless both clubs are in the prem they have very little in the way of rules around loans, which seems a huge failure of imagination

As for that Ziegler tweet, I dont understand the angle. Sheffield United were always a lock to oppose this seeing as they are owned by a relative of MBS. I dont understand why their vote is worthy of calling out like that. I know they dont have a sister club to borrow from, but my assumption is their owner likes not being jail. What am I missing with other clubs being disappointed in them?

Havenā€™t read the article but could they have given assurances that they would vote the other way?

No. This is all the article says about it

One club chief said there was particular anger among some of the 13 clubs in favour of the ban that Sheffield United had voted against it. Their owner is the Saudi prince Abdullah bin Musaid Al Saud.

One club representative said there was particular anger among the clubs that the turkey had voted to cancel christmas

I think it is simply a matter of now seeing Sheffield United being a captive vote for Newcastle. Not sure if I would call that disappointed.

Thanks mate :+1:

Hope they get relegated.

Forest and Everton can fuck off as well as Wolves.

In fact I hope by challenging the points they put it up to 30.

Fully expect them to make it to the CL again if 5th place really qualifies for it. :frowning:

I think this stuff needs to be a majority decision nothing more.

Anyhow as I said it might at least hurt that league.

Surely this is a vote that needs to be taken every 12months is it notā€¦
Relegated teams and newly promoted teams may have a different set of valuesā€¦

BTWā€¦ It was 8 clubs voted against the ban, not 7. Burnley was the other
