I believe a draw gets them through on the 5th tiebreaker (the first 4 being head to head), Milan has a -4 goal difference to Toon’s 0.
Want them to join us in the EL.
Shocking penalty decision.
I want them to be catapulted into a black hole.
Yes thats right. When i made my post yesterday my sources had Milan on +1 GD in 3rd…fucking bbc
More Saudi acquisitions in the UK.
Can imagine it already - Newcastle United will only now fly out of Heathrow - forget about Newcastle International Airport.
Makes for an interesting match. If Toon play for the draw they need to secure EL, they give up any chance at 2nd. Dortmund only need a draw at home to PSG to secure top, and a win puts Toon level with PSG holding the head to head tie-breakers. The only side in the group that doesn’t need to be playing to win on the last day is Dortmund.
It is unfortunately the call UEFA would expect their refs to make. People need to not blame VAR for rules they dont like.
I read a piece today in the normally solid Athletic that described it as a disgrace and cited multiple ex players saying how bad a decision it is. They then add a segment to the end of the piece finally describing what the rule is not what people think it should be and comments from a ref explaining why giving the pen was the correct penalty according to the current interpretation.
So why has the VAR guy been stood down? Obviously uefa don’t agree it was the correct decision…
Because that is what the authorities do in response to any perceived controversy just to take the officials out of the firing line
Yep - but the optics are very much that the ref fucked up, so he’s being pulled. If UEFA had a backbone the ref/var would be in charge of the biggest fixture in the next round of ties.
If Newcastle feel aggrieved, good!

Not true, Eddie, not true - we’re all rooting for you when you play Manchester clubs!
Not me.
That’s the first step how you don’t achieve it - tell everyone publicly that you want it.
At the present moment, I want Newcastle to take points from Man City, as Man City are the team to beat. I’m not bothered what they do against Man Utd as plenty of teams are taking points from them!
Eddie sometimes reminds me of Rodgers, albeit a vastly upgraded and modernised version of him - he can actually win a game in Europe but the soundbites are still there.
Howe is doing better (results wise) than I expected really, considering they haven’t really splashed as much of the cash as they could have done (so far at least).
But he *has" proved himself a far bigger cunt than I ever thought he was before. Hugely unlikeable.
Last year’s performance was on the back of giving him an almost entirely new starting XI from the one Bruce was able to select from. Several of them may have been lower profile, but with maybe the exception of Dan Burn were still players who would otherwise likely out of the reach of Newcastle without the salaries a PIF funded nothing side would have been able to pay.
