Alex OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN: 2021/22

Would be good to see the lad come good again… He can’t keep ruining these auditions though

What’s the point, though? He’s a wonderful character but looking at him solely as a football player, he’s no more than an extra body, an expensive squad player who can hop in to rest the cavalry. I’m beyond sad and disappointed that games like this one are what his Liverpool career has boiled down to.

Nothing to see here really.

One of our players had a bad game.

The same player scored in his last two games for us.

Felt sorry for him today more than anything.

A dreadful performance but not for the lack of trying.

He wasn’t the only one, Mane did fuck all until he scored, Matip was shite, but a lot of people on here blame the Ox for everything. What happened to YNWA?

He tried hard today but not much came off from him.

Feel sorry for him regarding his injuries but he is also not good enough to keep around.

Healthy and in-form he is just one of a few good options… And it’s not worth waiting for those few moments when there are others who can step in and be available.

Ox has not been injured for quite some time. Thiago, Milner, Origi, Keita and Bobby missed more game this season.

Ox scored in the last two games he was involved for us (remember the time our players were at AFCON?) so it’s really embarrassing to write him off because of yesterday.

I am sure we will try to cash in on him in the summer but if he decides to stay I would prefer us not to give Milner a new contract.

He pulled up in the warm up against Inter. Was obviously fit enough to play against Norwich, but I wonder if there was something still bothering him.

Needs replacing, if any takers in the summer let him go, nice lad but his time here is up.

Probably annoyed Elliott is better than him and Jones every bit as good. Lol.

Nah, Millie is much more important (overall, both on and off the pitch put together) than Ox.

Ox staying (IF, for whatever reason), must not have any influence on Millie’s situation (what the club decides to do with him, if the latest news is that we want to keep him).

Ox is probably on the market for a while now, but there was simply not enough interest, not at the willing price with several years left on his deal, not enough willingness to run away from a top side like us.

Hopefully there are more offers for such cases this summer.

I hope it was just the odd game.

I know the injuries and the lack of games have taken their toll and Ox will never reach any commanding level. But since the later part of last season he looked alive. In the last game he looked like Origi in last season, devoid of any energy and intent.

There’s still lots of games to be played and I hope he discovers the spark.

Forgot to mention that the commentator in the Norwich game called him Oxlade-CHANGING ROOM at one point.

:joy:

Another opportunity not taken and you can see he’s now getting frustrated at himself and the situation.

Wasn’t long ago him and Keita were seen as being in the same boat. Injury prone, inconsistent, contract expiring in 2023. Keita now seems to be fairly well established in that rotation of midfielders whilst Ox has very much dropped off to be a bit part cup player.

Can only see this going one way come the summer.

I don’t know what he had a huff about coming off…he did nothing today. If anything he should be pissed of a himself

How would you visually tell the difference between the two?

Fair point

League game in January and the two CL games in April. Ox was phenomenal in those three games and after that never got close to that level again.

Think with all the options we have he might have already played his last league game for us.

Might get some minutes in the CL and the FA Cup but surely his time with us will be over in the summer.

I wonder if he knows that’s the way it’s going which is why he’s visibly frustrated at not having a bigger impact when he does get his chances. When he’s on the bench Klopp seems to prefer other options too. Milner to see a game out, Keita/Henderson to shift the ball quicker or press higher, Elliott or Jones to give the young guys minutes. It can’t be easy for him watching those last two play given their age and experience when he’s not on.

Could easily see him taking a step down the league to get the game time he needs to get a rhythm back. He’s just not going to get that here unless there’s a rash of injuries.

West Ham, Wolves, Villa, maybe even back to Southampton in the summer. Anything in the £15m ballpark and we should take it.
