Alex OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN: 2021/22

Not even for the unreliable thread then.

We need a thread for the rumours which are worse than unreliable. Total bollocks rumours for example.

Heā€™s not posted anything about transfers for ages, and heā€™s been around a lot longer than 3 years.

Believe what you want to believe.

Reports today in the mirror Ox is thinking about leaving.

Arsenal want him on loan?

No thanks. :joy:

You donā€™t have to be Nostradamus to predict that Ox is thinking about his next move. Less than 2 years left on his contract and below Curtis and now Harvey in the pecking order. If we get a decent offer for him in the summer from somebody we should snap their hand off.

Just out of interest how did he get the Fekir transfer info

Like all ITKs, Graeme never reveals his sources. Liverpoolā€™s like a big village so I donā€™t doubt that people do hear things that donā€™t make it into the media from time to time but most of it is BS.

I think Graeme knows some people who work at the club but itā€™s likely something like a youth team coach or physio. Word will get round about some things and not about others. When I was active on twitter he came across as pretty solid, havenā€™t followed along in recent years but some people keep craving that follower number to get higher and higher.

Not sure I believe that Ox story though and the wording of the tweet isnā€™t clear when Ox is meant to have said that. It was well reported at the time that he left Arsenal because they saw him as a RB. Since then he has suffered injuries that will likely have changed his outlook on the game and his position within it. Besides I donā€™t think Klopp sees him as a RB, itā€™s too important in our system.

Thatā€™s what I mean. I canā€™t imagine Ox turning down playing time.

Couldnā€™t watch the game. How did he do in the 30 odd mins he got?

Not much mateā€¦ was the perfect scenario to slot him in at right full-back when Trent came off at 60minsā€¦ but Millie went there and the Ox came into midfieldā€¦!!

Thought he did alright initially, a few good pressures to win the ball back and some decent forward passes. Then they came back into the game a bit and it passed him by again, though at that point weā€™d taken our foot off the gas collectively.

Has to start against Preston week after next

I thought he looked lost. Iā€™ve got loads of time for him, and I generally like seeing him in the side, but today was the first time Iā€™ve thought we need to move him on for the sake of both parties.

He was doing to classic thing a lad under pressure does of veering between keeping it too simple and trying things that arenā€™t on, ending up making the wrong choice every time.

The difficult thing heā€™s got is that he is going to need to get a run of games to get anywhere near, and Klopp simply cannot afford to give him them.

Right now, I think he is a lad who really looks like he needs a fresh start somewhere.

To be honest I wasnā€™t really sure how critical to be of him today. Like I said, initially I thought he came on and did ok. But then reflecting a bit more my feeling is that was the easiest of games to came into and just do the simple things right and his introduction coincided with us losing the absolute control we had on that game. Collectively I think the team did ease off a bit and Iā€™m not sure how much blame should or can be levelled at him.

My gut feeling is that other than the great form he showed on our run to the first CL final up until his injury, he has generally been a massive disappointment and a few nice goals doesnā€™t really do much to mask that fact. There are so many games weā€™ve gone into and thought this is a real opportunity for him to stamp his authority on and he just does nothing of note and leaves you feeling thoroughly underwhelmed. If a decent bid had came in for him in the summer Iā€™d have been more than tempted to let him go and find his feet elsewhere. Seems like a lovely lad and a great personality to have around the dressing room but at some point soon I think if he has genuine ambitions to get back into the fold with the national team he needs to look elsewhere and get a regular stating berth.

If you hadnā€™t asked I wouldnā€™t have remembered he got on the pitch.
It was very late for me in my defense. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I donā€™t think there was much to say (so positive or so negative) about his 25mins performance yesterday. I didnā€™t like that he went to LCM and not RCM (to allow Keita at LCM), but thatā€™s not his fault. Unless something happens, heā€™ll continue to be an option from the bench for a few positions and probably move on next summer.

He called Rogers being sacked on the Friday saying it would happen on the sun whatever the result in the derby. But that was 6 years ago!

I think ox will go. Even in a depleted midfield he didnā€™t start. Time for a fresh start for him.

While I dont disagree that his future is probably away from Anfield, I did think last nights cameo was a step up from the little snippets weā€™ve seen earlier from him this season.

Completely agree. Love Ox and still very much believe in him. More than any of the ā€œfringe guysā€, and I love them all, I want Ox to succeed the most.

All of that said, in full truth I was a little nervous about him coming on last night. It was such a crazy match for many reasons and Ox hasnā€™t been in the best of form. But he played smart and within himself. Thought he was great.
