Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

Another worthwhile contribution to football discussion and people wonder why posters keep leaving.

Hence wait till window closes if does and we have brought 2 attackers in its a shambles. 3 weeks ago people were flogging Chiesa now he is a valid option.

If nothing else happens it’s been an incredible window. Beyond our wildest dreams just a decade ago. And plenty of evidence to trust the club to sort our shortages at CB and forward. Relax ffs

If Jota was still with us, you’d have to say we’d be well set, with or without Isak. Include Isak and we’d be in dreamland.

That sort of loss will have impacted the club on numerous levels. I’d be a little more understanding if it’s taking a bit of time to fully address that on the footballing side of things.

The bid remains. The player is refusing to play for them. What more do we need to do?

I don’t know if you guys are talking about the same thing but this layer says no he can not walk away.

What can he do now?

“He can’t just walk away, he’s under contract,” says Jibreel Tramboo, a sports law barrister at London legal firm 33 Bedford Row. “If he says he won’t play, then he’s technically in breach of contract, and that’s enforceable if Newcastle wanted to.

“The reality is that Newcastle hold the cards. They can block him from leaving. There are no grounds for termination of contract.”

There is a framework within which players are able to rip up their deal, but it would require the club involved to not fulfil their contractual obligations. That scenario typically arises when they fail to pay players on time.

Isak is yet to submit an official transfer request, although there is little to suggest doing so would have much effect, given he has already made clear his intentions of not playing for Newcastle again. There would, though, be potentially significant financial ramifications for the Swede should he take that step.

“If a player hands in a transfer request, then it can affect some of their loyalty bonuses in the contract and some of those can become void,” adds Tramboo. “I don’t think handing in a transfer request does much for a player in terms of negotiation. It has no real legal power. In practice, it’s a political tool, which is why you rarely see them anymore.”

If nothing happens which is unlikely and we go into the season with what we have and we loose Salah, Gakpo or Hugo for any length of time would be saying that.

Some journos are just idiots,or brown envelope recipients!

In any event, I don’t anticipate we’ll see any progress until after the game on Monday. Then there will be a flurry of activity leading up to the window shutting.

Yup if anything happens it will be elsewhere.

I do think if we don’t get this done by the end of this window, we could go back in the winter window for a Mo replacement during AFCON.

AFCON was moved forward there is zero point in going in January to solely cover Mo being away.

As he would be only up to speed around the time of the final.

Of course plenty of reason to head back in to get a player of quality. Likelihood is Isak won’t be back playing til October anyhow.

A very truthful statement there, trusting bosses is perilous, as Isak is discovering.
Might be a long time before a player will trust Toon again.

A likely guess is Isak was the next priority, so we made a record bid and watched the ineptitude at Newcastle.

We have also had a little to and fro on Guehi.

I suspect work has gone on behind the scenes all along the way, with other players besides the two mentioned, only as fans we don’t know about it.

Again, judge it at the end of the window.

We have had a good-very good window, spending a lot on some cracking players, loads of talent, brought the age down, and recouped a lot of money too, which is very important.

If we sign 2-3 more players it will be the best window I;ve ever seen as a Liverpool fan of over 40 years.

And any promises made by Stavely should be honoured by the current establishment. It’s not Isak’s fault that Stavely left the job.

From what it seems like, It looks like there was a commitment made by the previous management to Isak to increase salary etc etc. Newcastle can’t simply come out and say there’s been no commitment made to that regard by an employee of the club. Especially when staveley isn’t in Newcastle anymore. That’s an idiotic thing to do.

Maybe we should sign Amanda, too.

They are over a barrel. No way we should pay £130m. £95m or we walk. For they have an issue. No time for sentiment.

The big issue is that a verbal or gentleman’s agreement isn’t worth anything.

Unless Alexander has something in writing, it’s worth toffee.

I really think it’d be best for us to look elsewhere, for him to go abroad, and for Newcastle to get in a replacement asap.

The issue the Toon have is that no club from abroad have shown an interest (we know Isak would say no to a Saudi club), and they are really struggling with signing any replacements. The chaos behind the scenes is the key driver, not that the toon journos report that.
