Literally I’m going off what others have said. Maybe it has been picked up for journos to have a bit of a laugh with hence Ormstein’s interaction. I’d still think it’s the KFC lad otherwise.
I believe it’s the COVID vaccine
I will repeat myself and yesterday cemented it. Isak is too much money for what he gives. Get a player who can cover across the front 3 and maybe a CM.
Better use of the £130m plus.
Wait, so Liam got punished because Mr Jones blew his nose on Tracy’s pencil case?
What a stand up guy, takinga bullet like that!
We still need another forward though even with a fit and firing Chiesa. Apart from the (dubious) Rodrygo links , is it known whether we have other options we are looking at should the Isak deal not materialise ? (And should that happen , where the fuck would that leave NUFC ? lol )
Any proper evidence of that?
Other than 4 club games and 1 international U21 game in his career on the left?
Based on a title winning head coach:
“I see Hugo mainly as a No. 9 that could also play from the left or play together with another No. 9.”
Move on. I don’t like the feeling of hanging Isak out to dry but we can’t be concerned about that. That’s between him and Newcastle. The medicine might be bitter but they need to taste it.
With the extra financial cushion from not dropping £130+m on Isak at the peak of his value we could just get the Guehi deal done and direct our efforts towards a more versatile forward option, preferably aged 23 or under.
Well we have recently signed a central defender that had I think one suggested link before Joyce mentioned him last week.
So who knows what we are up to.
While I hate the amount of money that is involved in such transfers, I believe that walking away would be dangerous for multiple reasons. Club would come out of this looking like amateurs, as well as the party guilty of completely unsettling a player, breaking promises given to him and then hanging him out to dry. Not to mention that not buying a striker would like Liverpool desperately short in the attacking areas for reasons already discussed…
I think this gets done as soon as Newcastle find their two new strikers and their mouthpieces fulfil their club’s agenda of making it look like Isak and Liverpool are the villains in this story.
Yeah, i think we’re committed to this one, particularly for this reason.
I’ve read a couple of articles that have stated it is his agent, that is encouraging Isak to act like a complete twat in this unravelling situation. In so much as kick up a storm and lets get what we want… For all we know, the agent has elaborated and expanded what is fact and what is not, to Isak, regarding his dealing with us, and the outcome, or promises made by us.
Very unusual for a player to act like this, UNLESS, he believes another club has promised to bail him out… Again, whether that is just his agent distorting reality… remains to be seen.
If there is even an ounce of truth in this, then LFC would be wise to keep this agent at arms length whenever possible. We should also hope that Isak changes this agent, long before he gets a chance to advise Isak to undertake the same tactics to us, should RM or other come calling 2/3yrs down the line.
They are close to signing Jacob Ramsey from Villa, who plays almost exclusively on the left, where they already have Gordon and Barnes. That suggests they are looking to move Gordon inside, and use him and Wissa as their two main options.
Would actually be a pretty sensible thing to do. Gordon is a really good finisher, and has played through the middle before.
I don’t think spending £130m on Isak is the barrier to getting Guehi done.
Seriously worried about Mr Jones, sure his mum is too!
As well as Hugo has done its a disaster waiting to happen hoping a player new to the league carrys on scoring.
We have lost 24 league goals from the squad they need replacing.
Agreed, I didn’t mean to imply that it was. But maybe it loosens the purse strings sufficiently that we pay the £5m that’s apparently the difference between the two clubs just to get it done ASAP.
I genuinely don’t remember seeing him play there but I read that he played centrally during this pre-season. That said, I thought it was enforced because of Wilson’s departure and Isak’s situation.
I think Ramsey and Elanga are quality additions to their side (as is Thiaw - and I’m sure Wissa will also be a good addition, he’s a very underrated player and I won’t forget his equaliser that could be said ultimately cost us the title in 2021/22) but this whole Isak saga has looked like they were deliberately shooting themselves in the foot just to prove some point born out of their inferiority complex.
I’m not sure Liverpool look at signings in that way. I don’t think they have an overall kitty in that way.
If we’re reluctant to go £5m more for Guehi, it’s because we’ve put a valuation on him and we just don’t want to exceed it.
It also might be dependent on his confident we are about Konate getting a new deal, which makes a difference to what Guehi’s status in the squad is, and therefore where that puts the needle on what we pay for him.
The Newcastle howay fans are singing ‘one greedy bastard’ song - wonder who they are directing that at… MBS? ![]()
