Macca on the pitch looks like he aged 10 years in the last two years.

Was hoping to see him in a more attacking role in the last two seasons and yesterday he did. Saw some glimpses of quality but unfortunately it feels like he just came back from a long term injury.

It’s not even as if he’s half a yard off the pace it’s still a yard. No improvement since the start of the season. That’s got to be a worry. He was so good at the end of last season!
I know he’s not the fastest player, in fact he’s slow, however his reading of the game isn’t good enough for someone of his experience.
I can not say he is a favourite of mine. I can not forget that world cup Argentina won and seeing him stranded in the few matches I got a glimpse of. When I heard we were buying him I thought ‘bloody hell why are we buying the poorest player in the world cup winning squad?’

He runs like he has a spinal issue. I do be worried watching him sprint to press the keeper!!

“Many things changed as I said, new players came in to replace those who left, we changed too many things, but | prefer to keep it to myself.” :eyes:

If truth be told he probably wants out, his performances suggest that. That or he is conserving himself for the World Cup.

Or its the consequences of how the team is getting set up. He isn’t the only one not performing.

His performances have been poor though, has he even played one decent game?

In some games he shows good movement gets into decent positions then just gets ignored by our man on the ball.
He’s the only one that shows any physical presence.
Yes he has been poor often a yard behind the play, which is unacceptable 1/2 a yard would have indicated he’s near the level, the thing is we just don’t know why.
For me he was always a question mark signing however he’s a player that needs those around him to be functioning. That isn’t the case.
We are seeing Jones is starting to be preferred. Which means Szoboszlai gets the spot further forward and the creativity completely stalls.
There’s just too many toss ups ATM we need to keep players that are familiar with each other and for the coach to set up something that works before we start writing all our players off.

His comments suggest its not all well in the background of the club.

It’s not like Mac Allister has been a shining light. If we are interpreting his comments as a criticism of the club, he is not making them from a position of strength.

Mac Allister may have a point, but two things:

One, you don’t air your dirty laundry in the open. If you have a criticism, do it in house, talk it through with the requisite people. We should not be reading about it.

Two, his own form has been lacking. Last season, he was world class. So we know he is a brilliant player. This season? Borderline if he starts in our strongest line up, and looks like he has played too much football and needs a good rest, or is saving his best stuff for Argentina.

I’m not so sure we can play both Wirtz and Mac Allister in a successful side together as the balance might be off, so I would be open to swapping Mac Allister out for a Baleba/Wharton/Anderson type, who has more physicality.

If I’m wrong about this last part I will happily keep a firing Mac Allister as he is a smashing player, but he is short of his best this season.

Here you are like clock work fully ignoring what the point been made was and twisting the attention somewhere else.
