Alexis Mac Allister (CM) Brighton & Hove Albion

I really take anything in the Athletic with a pinch of salt

He’s shit and slow and carried by Caicedo anyway.

Bullet dodged.

I would be rich mind for every time this was reported and I received a pound.

Have you tried Jack Lusby

Is he even worse?

He considers his opinions are facts.

The trouble with these kind of comments are that the media has a track record of quote mining and misrepresentation to get the story they want.

So has Mac Allister proactively said I only want to go to a club in the Champions League? In which case, no worries. Klopp will swerve him and we can all get on with life.

But it’s far more likely he had a microphone shoved under his nose with a hack saying ‘do you want to play in the Champion’s League, Alexis?’ Or Mac Allister has said that his ambition is to play in the CL but he isn’t saying it quite like the ultimatum presented here.

Exactly. These things are always more nuanced than how the media presents it.

For me, if he comes, great. If he doesn’t, great.

I know we will sign two good midfielders, arguably three, and we will be back fighting at the top end next season. If MacAllister wants some of that, and we want him, let’s go. If not, he will miss out on the next great Liverpool team that is emerging, and everything special that is to come, that goes along with it.

Possibly more to do with Jones’s resurgance as Caicedo’s price will be high, but I rate him both in and out of possession and above Lavia

I have a feeling that Caicedo is going to be made an example of by Brighton. I don’t see him going for less than 100m and I think a lot of that will be down to him being a bellend when he was trying to engineer his move to Arsenal.

Mac Allister on the other hand I can see going for around £50m. I don’t think he is £50m less a player than Caicedo. But I do think he has played fair by Brighton, so they will play fair by him. I think that’s the message they will want to give their players.

Caicedo is definitely better than Lavia, as will be seen in the price they go for.

For me, I would be happy with both Caicedo and Lavia this summer.

Lavia as an understudy to Fabinho, who still has something to give.

Caicedo as a replacement for Henderson, to be our first choice right midfield. He can do the 6 and 8 role but I would play him as a right sided 8. The benefits are his athleticism and tackling, and the ground he will cover to protect that side of the pitch as Trent, our main playmaker, steps into the midfield from his fullback role.

It will be interesting to see how we skin this cat, but if the premise is £120M and two midfielders, you might say Ugarte and MacAllister, and I would be happy with that; but then again, you might say Lavia and Caicedo, and I think I would be even happier with that.

Brighton are not incentivized to hold out too hard in negotiating a move. In the short term they might be, but a club like Brighton will relegated in short time if they start being so narrow sighted. Once players like Caicedo are seen to be being hardballed out of a move they next trendy club doing it the right way will be who these players look to.

That’s why they will play fair on this guy, they’ve even admitted he was off.

I reckon we end up with him. Too much smoke for me from elsewhere after all a Brighton journalist wrote they didn’t expect him to move last week.

Wouldn’t be against signing them both. Will say this mind he has 10 goals from CM, Jones just became our top scorer in CM.

All season and a few penos. Jones no penos and hardly any games.
