Was wondering / hoping that would happen but probably unlikely.

Seems it was purely coincidental that her home was broken into by guys wearing balaclavas resulting in her partner being stabbed. Yep, just nas luck.

And though he may not be charged in a criminal court, from yesterday till the day he dies he will be known as a rapist.

Hoping for a bit of a shake up but don’t really see much of a change after today’s election.

The big decisions are in the next few weeks.
SF, FG and FF posturing over who to get into bed with…
100% nailed on its FF and FG with the gobshites from Kerry and a handful of others.

If they don’t exceed a majority they will woo Labour as the Greens won’t have enough seats to make a difference.

Marylou will resign before Christmas and the same things will be on the agenda in 5 years time…
Housing, health, education, immigration.
Rinse and repeat.

In good news, most outlets are binning McGregors products.

The problem for the 3 main parties is that there is no way any of them can get in without hooking up with another main party. In this situation my preference would be FF with SF and PBP/SD,i think all 4 might even be needed.

Sinn Fein would need pretty much everyone else outside of FF, FG in order to get into power, and I don’t see that happening even if they were to try.

I agree we are likely to see FF, FG and bits and bobs to get a majority.

Mary Lou?
Before Christmas to keep the prediction live!

I don’t know, she’s very popular amongst Sinn Fein supporters .
If she were to step down would it be Pearse Doherty or Michelle O Neil who takes up her role.

Probably Doherty.
I think her race is run. If she can’t get into coalition with these numbers, they will have a rethink.
Her strategy of brazening it out isnt working for them. They need a more conciliatory leader and a move away from the legacy stuff.
She is too close to the Gerry Adams leadership era, not through her own fault, just through timelines.

I don’t see that so much in Pearse, though he might surprise us.There are a number of Sinn Fein TD,s who are in the Mary Lou mould and while I’ve no real problem with that,Mary Lou and a few others could be and do probably need to be a bit less “confrontational” when dealing with others who they will need to help them get into power for the first time.

I don’t see the Labour,Soc Dems or PBP being able to get into and stay in power with Sinn Fein ,even if the numbers were there. Unfortunately for all of the parties there is gonna have to be alliance and compromise for the next number of elections.

I’d have liked to see FF and SF keep each other honest,or at least give it a go ,yet i didn’t vote for either.
Hopefully those there now can take from what the others are looking for and deliver the housing and healthcare that the country needs.

I thought it was rich from FF and FG having housing on their manifesto.

Probably going to be FF, FG, Independent Ireland and the two gobshites from Kerry.

Other than saying"we’re going to build more house than you" i didn’t see anything from any of the parties to show how they where going to do that.
I know a number of tradesmen and every one of them are out the door and doing well financially .They have little time to take on more work,so for me it’s about how do you get more builders into the country or quicker still convince those here to work for firms who are building social and affordable homes for whoever is in power.
Short of oversupply i don’t know how you bring house prices down enough so those on lower wages can afford to buy

PBP had the vision of a state owned builder to work on social housing.

Sorry to derail the thread, but given these elections I was wondering if we ever got a better explanation for what was behind Varadkar’s resignation?

Sorry, I did see that but isn’t that pretty much what the public have been saying for ages but none of the top 5 parties seem to have pushed as an idea. It’s what used to happen but today the idea of employing thousands of new workers seem to go against everything governments want to put in place.

I did hear a rumour he may have leaked information to friends in the business/financial world and that was why he “stepped down”.As said though, only a rumour.

Its still the same thread!

Leo has left politics altogether, he didn’t stand in the election.
Not sure why he resigned but heard rumour of discontent in the party.
He might have jumped before he got pushed

  1. What is the final seat count?
  2. Why did the Greens got battered?
  1. What is Google?
