It’s a song by a couple of American songwriters from over a hundred years ago.Sent it to you by PM.
Anyone with a trace of Irish blood in them will know that song by heart!
I loved the song, specially the opera like way it is sung. I pray your wonderful land & people is spared from all malaise and have lasting bliss.
Sure don’t they all have lovely bottoms.
Documentary about big Jack on tonight BBC2 at 9.
Looks like it’s gonna be a good watch.
Was on Virgin media last night and is well worth a watch. Very sad to see him at the end. A huge part of my teens and twenties.
The Boys in green on the player covering Jacks years as manager.Great memories from the best period in the history of the game in Ireland.
I’m not sure I understand why this is happening, can someone explain the reasons ? Thanks
Because people are fuckwits.
Next!
We seem to have this every year in Northern Ireland by certain sections of the community when the weather is good.
In this case I think the excuses they’re going with is the NI protocol and the lack prosecutions over political leaders attending a republican funeral during the pandemic.
Personally don’t understand why anyone would want to trash their own or anyone elses neighbourhood.
The younger generation are encouraged to do this to prove a point by encouraging hatred on both sides.
Agree with this 100%. The cowards encourage it.
I think there should be a lot more integration from primary school age.
Livvy, The loyalist paramilitary groups are made up of a number of organisations who are generally coherent as a united group. One, the UDA, particularly their South Antrim faction are a bit of a breakaway group and are heavily into drug dealing, distortion and generally terrorising their own community, or anyone who speaks out against them. The police have in recent months been breaking up their leadership to a degree and the current riots are a kickback to this. The NI protocol and the republican funeral saga are just a convenient backdrop.
Ah OK thank you guys, now I understand it a little better. I couldn’t see the connection.
Completely agree. I saw a clip of a bunch of kids on the one side of the fence slagging off the other side but then when the host asked them if they wanted to meet them they were like “oh yeah absolutely.” It’s much different to meet people face-to-face and be able to think of them as people rather than “that lot over there”.
DerryRed,
Is there any way to expel these leaders of these splinter groups, or at least charge them drug offences so they can be put away in prison?
They are ruining the lives and future generations of families by getting the youngsters to do their illegal activities.
They’re sort of the same as any other criminal gangs really Maria, except these guys have been sucking up govt and EU peace funding for years and setting themselves up as ‘community leaders/activists’, effectively getting paid to stop the conflict. 'Why are we funding violent UDA?' | Politics | The Guardian Some of it supported by the politicians Funding to loyalist group Charter NI defended - BBC News
The police have even had occasion to meet with them as ‘community leaders’ instead of arresting them and busting their asses and breaking up their drugs & extortion rackets. .
They’re still at it now. Government to throw £10m of public cash at project to 'transition' paramilitaries into community groups - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
We’re a very long way off anything that resembles normal society here.
I generalise a bit but it’s really almost as simple as that.
It’s sad when you see the parents out on the street applauding them after throwing petrol bombs and rocks.
Oh my word, i am shocked! I never knrw this. They need their monetary funding cut off completely.
The politicians, church leaders, the parents and need to protest and stop them. There has to be a new way to stop this madness going into further chaos.
