Seems like Andy is not the new vice-captain as per my earlier post Andy ROBERTSON: 2024/25 - #126 by Retro_Helix

Arne Slot has revealed the Liverpool squad do not know who will be the club’s next vice-captain, but the player in question has been told.

The identity of Virgil van Dijk’s deputy has become an increasingly prominent topic in recent weeks following reports that Andy Robertson has been selected to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was the No. 2 captain before he joined Real Madrid in June.

But Robertson has since denied he is the new vice-captain. “I’ve seen rumours, I’ve had texts and I’ve had people congratulating me, but I’ve not heard anything,” the Scotland skipper told The Anfield Wrap.

“The group doesn’t know yet. I did talk to the individuals already, so the one that’s going to be vice-captain already knows,” the Dutchman said when asked about his new vice-captain.

Well deserved,Andy.

I am still not sold that Kerkez is an upgrade on Robbo. Is he injured?

I think it’s more likely that he’s accepted that a change of the guard has commenced and that his role will be that of a mentor and a back-up. Hopefully Kerkez can build on his performance against Arsenal but I hope that Robbo finally getting some rest will make him put in better performances when he’s selected. I love the mad, cheeky bastard.

He’s the vice captain. Would think that would mean some minutes should be on the table with that kind of squad. Maybe he’s carrying a knock, I don’t know

I actually forgot we even had Frimpong as TAA’s cover with Bradley, yet Dom has taken that spot.

Wild

His experience will be vital in the CL stages. Needs plenty of rest before then though to make sure he is sharp and crisp into the tackle

That no look finish would make Bobby proud.

Back to back excellent performances and one of the most important reason we look confident and strong at the back along with the familiar midfield 3. What a role model for Kerkez to learn from!

TGV Robbo, as I like to call him.

Said it many times, but I simply love his approach. It’s like he’s on trial, battling to feed his family and his history with Liverpool is zero in everything.

He hasn’t changed one bit. Legend.

Who would have thought that a player run into the ground and clearly suffering from fatigue would benefit from being rested consistently… Hopefully Slot can rotate him and Kerkez and ease Kerkez into the fray, given it’s Robbo’s final year of contract. Van Dijk looks more peaceful with Robbo by his side anyway.

Robbo has been excellent in the last 2 games.

There is a however!

The last 2 games he hasn’t faced a tricky winger, someone that has a go at the fullback and for me that is his current weakness.

But you can only beat what is in front of you and going forward he has linked very well.

The best for me against Madrid, was later in the game, a cross coming in towards the back post and Robbo was pro active and won a thumping header to clear, he was awake and aware to the danger, brilliant.

For someone written off as too old, it’s worth remembering he is only 31.

I hope that this isn’t his last year. He and Kerkez form an excellent pair of backs, who can rotate according to the rival and their fitness. There’s no reason to let him go and start looking for a LB, especially since he isn’t that old and more importantly, he is bona fide legend who still produces.

Amongst the very best we’ve ever had.
