Updates on the offal re. the Anni road end
The proposed expansion of the Anfield Road Stand will move forward, Liverpool FC has confirmed today.
The project, which has been undergoing enabling works throughout the off-season in anticipation, will begin in earnest with an official ground-breaking ceremony planned for next week.
The redevelopment of the stand will see 7,000 more seats added to Anfield, taking its overall capacity to more than 61,000. The construction of the stand will work in the same way as the redeveloped Main Stand, with the build taking place throughout the season while matches continue to be played throughout.
Andy Hughes, managing director of Liverpool FC, said: āWe have been clear from the beginning that in order for this expansion to go ahead we needed the co-operation of local residents and the community, to successfully navigate the complex planning landscape, and to ensure the project is financially viable.
āWe needed certainty for this project to progress and are now in a position to be able to move forward. We began this journey in 2014 and are grateful to everyone for the contributions they have made to bring the project to this stage.ā
Following two stages of public consultation and invaluable feedback on the initial plans, Anfield Roadās expansion project will reroute Anfield Road itself around the footprint of the new stand.
The project was given planning permission by Liverpool City Council in June 2021, with the club also awarded permission to hold up to six concerts and major events at the stadium for a period of five seasons.
The club will work with Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd (Buckingham) as principal contractor on the project.
Buckingham will work directly with the clubās Red Neighbours initiative on a range of activities with the local community and schools in line with the clubās current activities across food poverty, education and opportunities for young people, as well as taking the local community on the journey of the standās redevelopment.
They will also work with local employment groups and education establishments to offer work experience, apprenticeships, graduate placements and employment to local people. Buckingham is committed to offering around 35 work placements and more than 800 apprentice and training weeks across the build.
When complete, the expanded Anfield Road Stand is expected to create around 400 matchday roles in addition to the 2,200 people currently employed in various operations at each home game, of which 95 per cent are known to live in the Liverpool City Region.
The redeveloped Anfield Road Stand is anticipated to be ready for the 2023-24 season and its design will see the lower tier retained and refurbished with a new upper tier built above it. As well as an increased capacity, the redeveloped stand will be similar to the Main Stand, with improved concourses and sports bar lounge hospitality facilities. This stand will also see the relocation of the Family Park to a covered position.
Throughout the design process, careful consideration has once again been given to Anfieldās world-class atmosphere through the development of an acoustic and lighting strategy to match that of the one developed with the Main Stand.
Part of the safe, secure and inclusive design plans will also provide additional pedestrian routes at the back of the expanded stand into Stanley Park, retain the four-stand stadium configuration and character, and include historical design references.
What a weird event.
Klopp looks like he canāt wait for 2024, have a full season with that stand completed and f*ck off to some sunny abandoned island to have a yearās break.
Anyone living in the area know whatās happening in the vacant land opposite the club store? Is it being converted to new builds? Maps is showing it still as vacant. Seemed like an opportune time to buy up the land in prep for a Kop redevelopment in 5 -10 years time. Or maybe thatās whatās happenedā¦
Pushing Liverpool past the 60,000 capacity mark will enable them to go some way to helping address the demand for season tickets, with the waiting list standing at around 20,000.
Whatās the latest news on the season ticket waiting list, where do we stand at the moment? Is there something official that comes out every now and then? I think the last info I read was something Pearce mentioned in the Athletic last season.
Iām not sure if there was circa 20k people waiting also before the Main Stand redevelopment.
The season ticket list has been closed to new applications for a long time now and that area of the website is closed for maintenance. Think there are 23K on the list. When the Main Stand opened they issued around 2K extra season tickets. Not sure what the plan is for the ARE but there are rumoured to be about 5K general admission seats being made available. At a guess about half will be season tickets. The other half to members. Looks like they are planning on 2K for hospitality. Whatever it is, having a season ticket at Anfield is one thing on my bucket list I am never going to be able to tick off.
Because of the new ticket systemā¦I take it thereās no chance of allowing other people making use of themā¦so competitions and hope are the only way Iāll see the inside of Anfield againā¦
Do they not do the additional member sales now?
I know it was a pain but if you were crafty and checked throughout the day you might get a few like that.
Praps this Ā£184 million tonight, might helpā¦Iāll be able to get tickets on the āpackagesāā¦dream onā¦dream onā¦
They still do the members sales. The bulk sale is now done by ballot. Much better system than the virtual queuing we had before. I was dead lucky. Got City, Chelsea and Arsenal for the first half of the season and even if you miss out on the ballot you can still pick up tickets in the additonal members sales. That requires dedication and a large amount of luck as you know but it does seem easier this season. I even got a ticket for the Milan game but couldnāt go in the end. Think a lot of overseas fans arenāt travelling yet which is reducing demand and having the ticket on your phone makes it harder to tout.
So how do we get in this additional members sale?..Iāve tried a lot of sitesā¦just enquiring really.
Membership isnāt it if itās like the previous years just refresh occasionally throughout the day, always said if you can make it at short notice you sometimes get lucky in the week before.
Iām going give this season a swerve due to the fact Iām actively looking at moving jobs but from next season Iāll rejoin.
Cheersā¦Iāll keep tryingā¦
To be honest I got none the title winning season so I know itās not always easy, I would have got Everton tickets but I was interrupted by a meeting and didnāt click through in time.
First become a member. If you just want tickets then light membership is best. Ā£26.99.
Then check the ticket availability page for the game you want to go to. About 1-2 weeks before the game there will be an additional members sale. It starts at 0815 and you need to log in before then. You will be randomly allocated a place in the queue. If you donāt get in within the first 10 minutes then itāll be sold out but other tickets (returns/unsold hospitality) will pop up randomly on the site right up until the day of the game.
Hiyaā¦cheersā¦Iāve got the membershipā¦but having trouble with passwords at the momentā¦ I managed to get into the membership/tickets pageā¦Iāll just have to keep tryingā¦till then itās volume up for every gameā¦cheers thanks everyoneā¦I knew someone would be able to help meā¦(p.s. the Ā£184 million didnāt appear)ā¦try, try and try againā¦
Cheers everyone.
Itās good to occasionally refresh on the additional members sale day as well, Iāve got tickets at like 11 or 12pm that day.
