I have been looking at all the pictures of Melwood and it was so memorable and I feel so nostalgic about Melwood. I feel kind a sad in a way. I remember my Dad and uncle taking me outside Melwood when I was little.

This song sums it up for me.

Yep…looking in the cars coming out, not knowing which player was in them…at 8/9 year old it could’ve been the groundsman.

It is a new era. I think I have finally accepted that we are going to a new and exciting place, where more wonderful memories will be made. I can’t wait to see more pictures from the Kirkby place and see the boys train there.

I think it’s kinda like retirement of Gerrard (or any other icon). You know it’s inevitable, you know it’s for the best; still it hurts a lot.

The people make the place, and all the people are going. I expect it to feel like home to everyone very swiftly.

Must be people moving to Kirkby that wish some of their colleagues were left behind too then…

Is there any chance that the new facility contains a body part regeneration machine?

Amazing pictures thanks for posting. Anyone spotted the “James Milner door”? That’s hilarious :joy:

So I assume there is a very old church in Kirkby, maybe the ruins or foundations of some church built circa a thousand years ago ? Definitely a Danish or Norwegian settlement, probably Danish. Guessing Sons of Ragnar-era.

Wikipedia says yes :upside_down_face:

"The name Kirk-by, from the Old Norse word elements ‘kirkja’ and ‘byr’, believed to be of Danish origin, meaning ‘church’ and ‘settlement’ or ‘village’. "
