Arne Slot - Former Head Coach (Part 2)

Didn’t Alonso turn us down 2 years ago, because he was waiting for the Real Madrid job? Maybe that’s got something to do with FSG not approaching him this time.

I’m not telling you how to feel about it. I’m lamenting that we can’t show a bit of class towards a manager who won us the premier league for only the second time.

Thank you for that memorable season last year, Slot. It will remain as one of my lifelong memories, seeing the team win with so much games to spare!

Thank you and goodbye, Slot!

Fuck Alonso, he had his chance.
Hope he nose dives at Chelsea

I think more likely is we were interested as was Alonso, but could not agree on positiobal role and authority.

Bye bye ya fraud. Jeez what a relief. My god that has cheered me up no end.

I just need PSG to win tonight now.

I think there might something in that. Maybe the owners and Edwards and Hughes perhaps did not want another “demi-god” ruling the roost as maybe they thought Klopp did. Maybe E & H don’t want someone who’s going to undermine their authority.

So we can forget about Enrique. It’ll be the other Spaniard, and no I don’t mean Guardiola.

Anyway

All of a sudden I’m optimistic about next season. Unless they appoint Gerrard that is.

That’s bollocks. The only reason he wasn’t going to want the the job if dumb and dumber weren’t willing to relinquish control over everything.

I think people forget the manager and players are human. I hope Arne is in a good place mentally and his family can cheer him up.

Thanks for no 20 Arne

Arne did a great job in his first season of not trying to do too much. He mostly continued Klopp’s work but added in a bit more structure to our attacking game which was very much needed.

The issue arose as time went by and Slot needed to start imprinting his own ideas on the team. It was clear that…

  1. He wasn’t really sure what he wanted us to play like
  2. The players did not buy in to him or his ideas
  3. He appeared to be a fairly distant character and his personality type didn’t come across well at times (and towards the end, most of the time)
  4. In my eyes he clearly lost the dressing room.
  5. He failed to build a relationship with the fanbase, something that should have been easy after winning the league but after two years he still felt like he didn’t “get it”.

At his best, early last season, he showed excellent situational awareness was able to change games with smart substitutions and added some extra dimensions to our play that helped us win the league.

But this season has been catastrophic. End of story. We are so lucky that Szoboszlai decided to start smacking free kicks into the top corner or we wouldn’t have been close to the CL places which could have been a very long, hard road to recovery given the financial strength of our rivals. He had to go - it’s been piss poor for way too long.

On the basis of some fans’ behaviour, I can only assume that in your own personal life, it is acceptable for your colleagues and bosses and anyone associated with the organisation to mock you, to call you names, to talk shit about you online as long you are not well liked, is no longer achieving the KPIs, regardless what you achieve in the past.

Sure you are allowed to behave how you like and how you want, but we also have every right to call you whatever names then from now on.

There is anger, there is frustration but some people can do it with grace.

Exactly this.

If it’s Iraola, it’s another yes Man for Edwards/Hughes.
But, I guess anyone established like Enrique or others will be setup to fail if Hughes/Edwards remain, as those types of coaches won’t take egoistic signings from the top and have no say whatsoever.

So, I guess for club’s sake if they are not letting Hughes/Edwards go…then better to have a Yes man, than another guy who will be setup to fail already.

Inzaghi should be the clear favourite over all three of these but I’ll accept Iraola.
