Finally someone said, what is really needed to be said right now.
Never easy on anyone to lose a job.
Good luck Arne.
Exactly this.
Luckily, for many of our players, football is unlike any other industry.
Half of them should be following Slot out the door too
I did this for the first thirty years of my career. Tailed off a bit towards the end and ended up doing the bare minimum. This led me to the great success I enjoy today.
Letās wait and see. We brought Klopp in after 7 years of excellence in Germany. Alonso had what 1 or 2? Then was fired at Madrid in 6 months. Itās not like heās a sure thing, I think we slightly overrate his CV. Some fans talk about Alonso like he is a world class coach but I think thatās far from proven.
Iraola makes a lot of sense to me. Consistent body of work, overachievement every season, can adapt to changing player pool, likes using and developing young players, attractive style, forward-thinking and direct. And heās worked with Hughes before successfully.
Every appointment is a risk but I like this a lot.
Yepā¦but I donāt want to jinx itā¦
Itās great to see all the positivity on here
Bloody Hell. I pop down to the shop and my phone goes mental.
Probably it will be Iraola. Looks like the Spanish coaches are ruling the world of football at the moment. Guradiola, Arteta, Enrique, Emery are just few of them.
I still have a liitle hope that Klopp could be back after 2 years of rest and reset, but it probably our new manager will be the basque Iraola. If the club chooses him, I will write a little review about him as I follow his career when he was at Mirandes and famously led them to a 1/2 finals of the Copa del Rey in 2019/2020 season.
I think the 12 months salary to compensate him, will help with that.
POTY?
Whoever it is, the club need to up their game and build him a squad that can compete. Slot played his hand very badly, but it was a poor hand to begin with.
We canāt go into a season with holes in the squad like we did this year.
Slot will work again. Heās a PL winner. Not too many of them around. There might be a vacancy at Bayer Leverkusen.
I think itāll come down to whoās available whose name fits the tune of ālife is lifeā ![]()
Heāll go on to have a good career. Wouldnāt be surprised to see him pop up in a few years at a big club.
Iāll just take a moment to appreciate this decision before moaning about what might or might not happen or could have happened.
Thank you for no 20 Arne and all the very best on your future coaching endeavours.
