Arne Slot - Former Head Coach (Part 2)

Well said. Fair criticism is in bounds, and there are a lot of grounds for fair criticism against Slot. On a personal note I was a defender for a long time, but I’ve been a critic - I hope fair - for a while now.

Just saw the news. The inevitable finally happened, but I take no joy out of it.

Thanks Arne for nr. 20, and all the best for your further career. :+1::heart:

His successor is most probably already lined up, and everything points towards Iraola. I can live with that!

It’s both. He was dealt a terrible hand, whether that means Jota, or all the injuries, or the squad churn, or the sudden decline in Salah and Mac Allister, but he played it really badly.

To be fair, that was what all the reliable journalist were saying - it’s not an opinion I formed in the absence of any evidence. And it does seem that the boards stance changed over the last week or two.

I think Kenny’s comments after he replaced Hodgson stuck with me. He said a similar thing.

Liverpool retain faith in Karius and believe Ward is capable of becoming the club #1

The only manager I’ve ever celebrated leaving was Uncle Roy.

I was glad to see the back of Rodgers in the end, but even then drew the line at party poppers. What would it be celebrating anyway? That an appointment hadn’t worked out and our football club is back to square one? Woo hoo.

Its things like this what get my goat more excuses. Im not happy he’s gone but im certainly not disappointed either. If you look over the course of the 10 months of the season nothing improved.

Well, then you have exactly the same opinion as me in that case.

Things definitely seem to have shifted over the last couple of weeks.

I am happy. If you accept he was no longer the right person, as I do, then the disappointment is already baked in. The question is then what do you do about it? Do you do the right thing or commit to continuing down the wrong path? Not making this decision wouldn’t have turned slot into the right guy

I’d define my current feeling about Slot’s dismissal as relief, rather than happiness.

It absolutely needed to be done.

More soundbites coming out from club friendly journalists…Even the officials at the club thinks Jota’s death played a part but it might not be as impactful as it is viewed by some…

Damn, just noticed the change in title.

Feel bad for the guy, master of his own downfall in the end, nobody else to blame. Remembered for his title win, forgotten for his defence of it.

Konate to do a u-turn depending on the new manager?

And more details are starting to spill out with quite a few people in the club happy to talk to journalist about Slot…

Not sure it has a name but it has as it’s origin/inspiration/theme or whatever you want to call it from the 5 Heads of Communism. Don’t think the ideology, necessarily, rather the aesthetic of it.

Shame it didn’t work out, but the writing was on the wall. Thanks Arne for Nr. 20 and for handling the Diogo tragedy in a remarkable and impeccable way. Good luck for your next adventures :four_leaf_clover:

Arne has set the blueprint for future LFC managers: if you fail, at least do it with a league title in the pocket.

mixed feelings

sad it had to and this way, especially after it started so magnificently.

I still remember that video of that little lad wearing his Liverpool kit in the supermarket singing “Arne Slot…da-da-da-dada”.

At the same time relieved that we have course corrected and very much looking forward to Anfield next season.
