Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 1)

Why not ? At least it would be a good word play for once.

I am considering going full into gallow’s humour to feel less frustration. So getting hammered by the hammers would not be the worst when it comes to pure art.

He will be by me. Winning number 20 will always be so important. Even if it gets ugly/worse before he goes he will still be rememberedf fondly by me; just like Rafa and Ged notwithstanding some of the stuff after.

He should be gone by 10am.
He cannot stop this slide. The players dont believe in him.
The season can still be saved at this point. If he carries on we could be looking at a 10-15th place finish.

I can totally get behind that .

I’ll join you!

Be careful driving past Anfield, I hear you’re gonna end up with 3 points on your license

Yeah mate, VVD is starting to lose his cool during the match.

I am only an amateur level player, but I recognise that sentiment. I used to go full on when my team weren’t performing and I got angry

For some people anyone upstairs is completely untouchable and can do nothing wrong. I never said Hughes made all the decisions or incoming/outgoing…but he had a massive hand in the lot of them and he is first to be blamed for this mess before Slot.

Same major points against Hughes..

  1. Selling diaz with no replacement provided. Everyone would agree in hindsight Diaz should not have been sold. But, let’s not forget the focus for us as a club is to always even our the books.Selling your best first team attacker…with two years of contract still remaining.
  2. The manager wanted a CB…who didn’t sign one …was it Slot ? Especially when we were heavily short in it.
  3. Approach to sign Isak has been abysmal. We signed a player with no pre season. Do you think this whole fiasco was just possible by his agent and no input from club personnel.
  4. He has a habit of overspending massively. Just look back how much he paid for Jordan Ibe…if you remember he was even our player.

And you’re taking a piss if you are blaming Slot for everything ..giving a clean chit to the people upstairs ?

If they do end up sacking Slot, would you or Mr. Hughes agree that they got it wrong…and their whole data based approach on appointment of Slot was a shoddy process then ? If that’s the case why would I trust Hughes that he will get it right in the next appointment ?
Sometimes it’s best to say things as they are …instead of finding the easy culprit on everyone’s name i.e. (Slot).

Fans don’t count. It is only opposition managers that get 3 points when driving past Anfield

At the end of last season you would’ve called Diaz our best attacker, ahead of Salah?

Friedhelm Funkel is available

I’d love to keep Arne. I really want him to succeed and I think he could. However he has to show some authority and make some tough decisions - Mo and Macca need to be dropped and ideally some way to drop Konate. We are currently playing with often only 7 outfield players while also trying to integrate the likes of Isak and Wirtz. It’s too much and Arne needs to realise this or he should go. Unfortunately I think he makes those changes in the next 2-3 games or he goes.

you mention 3 senior players in Konate, Mo and Macca needing dropped,

one of those got subbed last week at 2 nil down, and came of the pitch smiling, not a good look

for me something in not right in the relationship between the players and management.

when things go bad in the dressing room, its usually the senior players who show it first through there performances

I definitely agree with this bit. I’m not really sure exactly what has gone wrong, but it clearly isn’t to plan.

Sacking Slot is the simplistic option, but he isn’t operating in isolation. He has a coaching staff that came with him and our tactical and stats guys are meant to support him.

If the problem is tactical, then that needs to be resolved, and it is quite possible that what we need is more personnel in that area.

I suppose it is always possible that there interpersonal problems. Unlike Klopp, I don’t think Slot is much of a hugger.

I think what worries me is that no one at the club actually knows what the problem is.

Thats just not a reason.

You not understand the sarcasm of “then again” also sadly more than half the league. I was responding to Maria who said we were away.

I think it’s definitely tactical and most probably not only tactical.

In terms of personnel in the coaching staff, I’d probably look at set-pieces, where Briggs was put in charge. I know it takes time, but…

We look like we need at least a mini-pre season and that is a horrible thing to say.

We will not get that time on the training pitch, so we’re doing catching up.

Big question how was our pre-season in terms of pure physical preparation, that’s when you build your foundation for the whole season.

And then of course, the balance of the team in the first place and understanding between players (not helped by some players arriving late), phases of the game that are not working since pre-season; pressing, defensive transition, set-pieces, even build up to a certain extent.

I think we might get a full week here and there, but Slot first has to survive until then (I have no idea how close or far he is to getting the sack, I’m sure that the club cannot possibly tell him that he can relax until the end of the season if we keep losing at this rate) and then really maximize that time.

And that’s one reason why I would not want Iraola as Slot’s replacement, if he were to be sacked. Outside of the bottom four the two teams with the worst goals against are us and Bournemouth, both with 20.

It is mystery why we have gone from that hard to beat pragmatic style to the pushovers we are now. It can’t all be down to Trent leaving, can it?

One feature of last season was Gravenberch playing deep. We need to go back to that.

You have to wonder if the changes in the coaching staff are playing a part in our collapse. Of course, Slot would have to be directly responsible for those appointments.

Dunno how reliable this guy is…but it looks like the wheels are in motion…sadly :disappointed_face:https://x.com/JamesWathland/status/1993947987387797586?t=LDtXdav5ZWuO5zm9srlu9Q&s=19

He should be rightly pissed for his team-mates and the head coach for the lack of effort and poor tactics respectively. The bloody hole in the midfield all the fucking time…
