If I was in Slot’s shoes I would pull all the players into a meeting and give them all a piece of paper a pen and an envelope, and put a question to them - do you want me to resign. a simple yes/no will suffice. Totally anonymous. One vote per player. More than a few yes’s and I’d walk there and then.
There are murmurings, based on the performances, that Slot has lost the dressing room. It’s easy to see why. I’m not sure Slot has lost the players, but a starting point for a collective ‘we scrap our way out of this’, has to be the confidence that everyone is behind the boss and willing to work their bollocks off to sort it out.
I see too many players crying off 50/50 challenges, not getting giving a shit about getting back to defend, going through the motions, jogging round the pitch. Yes, Slot deserves criticism, but these players are well paid professional footballers and the effort is not fucking good enough. Just a bit of fucking pride would not go amiss here.
I’d be a bit weary of this kind of articles. A lot of people will want to stir the shite now, by all means. It coukld be fake news. However, it this news turns out to be true, then Hughes should pack his coffers before Slot.

I’m not saying I’d do it now. I’m saying from the perspective of the club. There is supporting your coach and then telling him that he has until the end of this season no matter what happens.

And of course, fsg need to think very hard now, in case that Slot can’t get things right until then.
Yes, but they are both in a precarious position now. Their common choices didn’t come off. Edwards appointed Hughes, and could feel fsg’s wrath at some point… not saying that we are at this point already, but fsg will surely assess and analyze everything. Errors have been committed, and they’ll come to the bottom of this.

The A.M one was a last minute heroic. The Arsenal one is a moment of set-piece brilliance from Szobo. Real Madrid’s a well done set-piece. Newcastle was a man down after the first half and were trying to win the match after equalising with 10 man.
Only the everton was a good match with good build up play.
Honestly speaking, do you think it is sustainable to always rely heavily on last minute heroics, occasional set-pieces brilliance and hoping the opposition to get one player sent off for every match?

No, everyone was agreeing then that we weren’t at our best. But the lads had it in themselves to keep it tight at the back, to fight hard and get a result even when things weren’t going well. I wonder what happened which has lead to the fighting spirit collapsing so brutally? Injuries have certainly played their part, but even that doesn’t explain everything.

I couldn’t care less what rival fans say either, but when Liverpool fans say the same it feels like Mubsy is on here (even though I know it’s not). The thing is I completely agree with a point that you raised earlier about being a mental issue with the team as much as coaching issue. Slot is not a Klopp type motivator to raise the spirits of the players and make them want to run through brick walls for him, so i don’t see a way out for him. As for there being no one obvious to take his place, that’s what everyone said about Klopp and the unknown guy came in and won the league. However that fairytale has ended and unfortunately even Sean Dyche would do a better job than currently being done (though I’d never want him here anyway even though he out coached Slot just the other day). Gasperini would be my ultimate pick but I’d take Alonso, Simone Inzaghi, Iraola, Zidane etc. in a heartbeat atm. Heck I’m sure there’s plenty more ‘unknowns’ waiting to be unearthed that our data guys would be all over if that’s the route they wanted to take again.

If the results were the odd goal when this slump started then I would be willing to but we are now losing by 3 goals to teams who would be happy with a draw.
People say who would be better but frankly at the moment Slot is not the man and I can’t see him changing that. Ultimately Hughes has also made mistakes so perhaps Edwards needs to ultimately remove both.
However you look at that team on paper against Forest and it should be winning, same for last night. And the excuses on Gomez, Chiesa and others are just plain silly.
It’s like Rodgers and Hodgson at the end, how bad does it have to get? 4-1 at home to PSV, if you said it was 4-1 you’d think it was Liverpool who had won and you wouldn’t blink an eyelid.
I’m seriously concerned if we get dragged into a relegation battle we ain’t getting out of it. And you can laugh all you want but they are as brittle as a mummy. They can talk a great game they don’t seem to be doing it.
Slots Liverpool hasn’t got a spine. Theoretically we do but in practice we don’t. Under Klopp we had Allison, Virg, Fabinho and Firmino. Now, Allison is out, Virg is past his best, the midfield seems clueless and our centre forward non existent. Until we find a solution we will continue to struggle. A new CB should have been a priority in the summer.
I understand that Slot wants to play his way and build upon that. And yes, some of the games, we’ve been unlucky at key moments, with xG for and against wildly swinging away from the expected value.
But at times, we just need to be pragmatic. Teams are allowing Konate on the ball and ready to press as he passes it. Same with Mama, who in his games for us, seems to be a throwback to De Gea style of passing ability.
And then the inevitable second half panic subs causing us to radically change formation with players given all manner of different instructions. We wind up having 5 standing in a line up top and a chasm to the two players back defending. A miss placed pass and the opposition have acres of space to run into.
Just an observation from last night.
I remember the tactical hype around Slot when it broke he was our future manager of choice. One core principle being that Slot expected players to work hard in recovery.
Last night there were numerous instances where players did not. I include Dom, most people’s MoM last night.
This is the first time Ive witnessed this man. He says a lot but very little also, a lot of typified responses, almost a ‘talking head’. There is a slither of him seeking to preserve continuity in the club from Klopp’s legacy, but then he qualifies, that is dependent on the players you have or can get. Then 12 months later they go and buy 3 or 4 that arent suited to the press. Im suspicious this guy is superficial because LFC are the least superficial club there is! But to his defence there does seem to be an intention 12months ago to preserve continuity, yet this summer, we can see its totally been destroyed.
