First time I might be right and I’m pretty annoyed it’s about this.
Be insanity to give him a new contract.
Somehow turns it around and we look better then offer it in October/November. You give a manager a contract because you want to keep him and he is the best out there.
At this moment he clearly isn’t and if we don’t offer one it will at least put him on notice. I think players will sign regardless. I do think Hughes or Edwards a decision about extension needs to be made there.
As there needs to be continuity.
I think that’s what will happen. Joyce’s article the other day had a 5 point plan and one was to start next season well.
The 10 game thing might be what is looked at. If our performances are good and we’re challenging then I think they give him a new contract. If not we have a Rodgers situation where he’s gone and we’re fucked.
I don’t like bringing Klopp into these discussions. It’s not fair on either. Even so if Klopp had stayed on decisions would have had to be made.
As for Hughes I haven’t a clue who or what he is however I know that generally someone has to be blamed. That’s the nature of our world.
All that is clear to me is that Slot isn’t getting anywhere near the best from the ressources he has. For me I think he underestimated the challenge (to the extent of disrespecting the EPL) with his small squad mentality and he didn’t and doesn’t have the experience to have been considered for the position.
I am alarmed by the situation of home grown players. Yet unbelievably certain would like to see the back of Jones (and many of these idiots seem to think Gravenberch offers more). What is going on that home grown are being ‘forced’ out?
What is amazing is that we are hearing Slot is staying yet there’s apparently going to be a coaching team ‘over haul’. That sounds like madness to me. If coaches need moving on Slot should be the first on the list to go!
If the club keeps him on we are lumbered. I’d be prepared to give him a third of a season. I am pretty certain he will fail, then the big wellies (with steal toe caps and all) come out. ![]()
Not an overhaul. The club sacked a coach mid season and used the existing coaches to cover his workload, so there is space to bring some else in. That someone looks to be one of Arne’s coaching staff from when he was in Holland and who he had tried bringing across then but couldnt because he lacked the relevent qualifications, which he has since gained.
Another change would be if the current assistant manager goes, then it looks like Heitinga is the preferred replacement.
I’ve said this before - with or without CL Football / with or without Slot we will see an improved Starting 11 next season. So yes we might start very strong in the first few months and a new contract for Slot wouldn’t be too unrealistic.
The problem will be squad depth and Slots inability make use of the whole squad → so second part of next season we will return to being shit again.
More and more noises that he’s staying. Is that to not disrupt the end of season push for a CL spot, which is almost-but-not-quite in the bag? And the real plan is to install Alonso, who is ready and available? (If we have designs on Alonso the timing may never be better in the future).
Or is Slot really going to stay?
If it is the latter, the biggest issue for me is that it won’t come with a proper reset. Most of the fan base wants him gone (I haven’t done a survey, but that seems clear). So if he leads us into next season, I would have thought a lot of ‘previous’ will be bubbling just under the surface, waiting to erupt at the first sign of a struggle in terms of results or performance levels.
So we are potentially inviting avoidable trouble, which does not seem wise to me.
Then again, for all I know, Slot bosses it next year with some key signings, better luck with injuries, and better integration of the players already signed. Heitinga comes back in and is a key right hand man too, providing coaching help and helping to rebuild the right culture which seems a little off right now?
Who knows what is going to happen?!
My guess is Alonso. Swift as you like after the season ends. And if that has been in play for a little while, he will have weighed in on summer recruitment too.
So no send-off for a title winning head coach?
He can sit on a gold throne in the middle of the pitch if he likes!
Arguably, if the CL is wrapped up, maybe the club announces his departure before the last home game, so everyone can unite and show their appreciation?
It’s all a bit tricky to manage, and end-of-season outpourings of gratitude look set to be focused on Mo, Robbo, maybe Alisson if his departure is confirmed.
Maybe Slot addresses the crowd and says goodbye? Who knows!
That would be perfect.
Not gonna happen. He’s staying I’d say.
Thanks John, good of you to confirm publicly
Is that reply for me?
Was it not Slot that confirmed his signing before Liverpool did? Or at least strongly inferring?
The problem right now is that a lot of us feel that Slot is not connecting with the supporters. The team is not playing with engaging and exciting football. I really do not see how that will change. Slot has not shown us any proper upturn in fortune as many have written on here.
Best way to connect with the supporters is to win games convincingly with an attractive style of footy, simple.
Yeah there is an extended international period as they’ve shoved September together with October so it’s a period that a lot of clubs will look at.
Tone it down, hard man.
You talking to me?
