Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 2)

Body language experts in full flow.

Nothing to see there.

One of the things raising temperatures around the fan base. Some people don’t care, most do.

That’s exactly how I feel as well when thinking about him. It’s really terrible to see how quickly he has lost all the credit for winning the PL in his first season with us. But at the same time, one can’t help but noticing that at least a part of it must be self-inflicted.

Something seemed to change about his around the end of March. He had come across as stressed and frustrated that he hadn’t found any solutions. I think it was around the time of the Spurs match, he suddenly seemed to not give a shit. Just going through the motions and looking to say the same old nonsense in various ways.

I did think that he had been told that he would be replaced at the end of the season, but maybe he was told that the club would write off the season and reset in the summer. However, if that was the case, I would have expected him to be a bit more upbeat rather than flippant.

Agree Redwhippet; the entire situation seems mismanaged and we are looking less like the club we were a couple of years ago and more like we are morphing into a glazer/ratcliff era manure.

We can say that but from an outsides perspective we have achieved our main goal for the season.

That ultimately is what probably keeps him until at least that first break, if by expected it continues then he will probably be moved on at that point.

Xmas also doesn’t make any sense regarding the calendar, you’d do it during an international break and FIFA have merged Sept and Oct to a sort of end of Sept/Oct 3 week break now so it’s probably at that point you may see changes.

Maybe a few clubs and managers will factor that in as well, anyhow this is the fourth different position Indykalia has taken so please lets not pretend he knows jack shit. He played the rumours like that bloke in his bedroom several years ago.

Highly doubt the club will sack him during the season now as long as we are on course for a Top5 finish again.

He will have less than 9 months left on his contract and I can’t see a summer transfer window after which this squad will look like one that can win silverware next season.

It depends how bad it gets, I can’t see this team starting like it did last season so we are probably looking at lower league positions already.

I think it all started when Slot and the squad went to Ibiza after winning the league despite having a few games left. The results of the last few games were not pretty reading.

And then the current season rolled in with victories that relied more on moments of magic than actual good open play. After that phase ended, you know how it went…

As I grow older, I have come to appreciate just how precious time is and how much things like sport and politics can quietly rob you of it. If Slot stays, I will continue to support Liverpool as the lifelong fan I am, but from a distance, and invest my time elsewhere. I’ll catch a game when I can and when ā€œMY PRECIOUS TIME ALLOWSā€, but it will no longer be a priority…I want to focus more on things that bring me joy and pleasure and not things that rob me of it.

Worth noting - if this is accurate (can’t see anything corroborating on Fabrizio Romano’s side) - that this was posted last Thursday. So nothing happening last week.

He did post it. the post from fab, was just stating that, after the season, there will be at least a week long review and assessment before any final decisions are made on how to proceed…i think we will hear more on leadership potential changes (not necessarily slot), possibly starting next week.

Actually, when I originally typed it, autocorrect changed it to Ducking. I thought I’d changed it back, but obviously autocorrect thought better of it.

Maybe that’s the true Turing Test, when AI learns to swear properly?

Is a Highland Safari just sheep and Highland Coos?

A Faulty Towers quote came to mind…

ā€œWell, may I ask what you expected to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically?ā€

According to their website:

Armed with cameras and binoculars, climb aboard your off-road vehicle and journey to the high tops through a land sculptured by the elements and steeped in history, culture, nature, and breathtaking views with no shortage of photo opportunities.

You may even be lucky enough to see the Majestic Red Deer, the Famous Grouse, the elusive Mountain Hare, or the soaring Golden Eagle as you travel through forests, mountains, and moors on private hill tracks. This Safari will inspire you with an insight into this magnificent natural wilderness and leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

So yeah, it’s the Coos.

A lot of people seem to think that the Highlands are some kind of natural wilderness, but it’s been largely denuded of its natural environment. It’s meant to be arboreal for a start. As it stands, it has large swathes that are turned into shooting estates where any natural species is shot, trapped or poisoned by gamekeepers.

On a similar note, Yr Wyddfa wasn’t originally coated in broken slate.

Where were we…

Oh yeah, Slot. No news until next week?

I don’t really know what people expect the club to say at the moment.

If he’s 100% staying then they don’t need to say anything. Anything they do say would be treated as the dreaded ā€œvote of confidenceā€. If the new coach isn’t ready to be announced then you can’t announce him but that would confirm him staying.

If he’s 100% going then you do all your due diligence first. You know what your next move is, who is coming in and until everything is lined up you keep quiet.

And if they’re making a decision still then there’s nothing to say yet.

I’m at the point where I’m assuming he’s staying unless we hear otherwise from the club.
