Doubt Slot has a personal relationship to any of his players. It’s all nothing but being professional.
“Desperate”.
I hope not, can understand not wanting to fire him in November and give him time but this team is worse even from that point.
Maybe he can bullshit to Hughes or maybe together they can bullshit to Edwards but they should try and bullshit to Henry.
I think by “desperate” he means the mantra-like repetition in the press every two to three days (it feels like) that they absolutely want to keep him as coach. At this point, with all the questions, doubts, and dissatisfaction regarding his position, etc., it seems like a bit of a desperate attempt to silence the critics, over and over again.
He’s gone. Bet it’s announced after the Villa game.
It is surely all over for Slot. My expectation remains the same as for a while. He gets the season. CL qualification is there to be earned, but then he will be mutually consented, and it will be swift.
No news on Alonso’s future speaks volumes too.
Right now we are enduring something, and have been for a while, but a reset is surely coming. If Slot stays on it is inviting a lot of trouble, and I don’t think FSG are stupid.
If he goes it should be with our appreciation and thanks, not least for that Prem title. I expect to see him at Ajax, back with his family, and he’s young enough that another big job might come his way, but right now it very much looks like we are in the end game with him at Liverpool.
To quote Shakespeare, “the lady doth protest too much”.
If you see Slot at the moment, he does have the demeanor of a condemned man. Either that, or they have told him that he is staying, and he just doesn’t give a shit anymore.
One thing that I am wondering is if the club have a new manager lined up, but they are currently under contract. Maybe involved in the World Cup? It would make sense to keep the pretence up until the individual is free of other commitments.
Alonso’s being linked with the Chelsea job
In the US post game he chuckled at the idea a section of fans booed the decision to take off Rio saying it was more than “some”. Read into that what you will, and there is a read that’s just the reaction of a guy confident in his decision making with a justifiable explanation (Rio was physically struggling). But another is this is the DGAF reaction of a guy already relieved of the burden of being the one who has to fix it
I saw the Chelsea link. My take is that if Alonso was truly free, someone would have tied him up by now. That’s why I think Alonso is not free, and he has already locked in with us.
I tell you what, though, when Arne does finally bog off on that much-anticipated holiday, he won’t be short of offers to drive him to the airport…
That really would be the best timing at this point. It might be the only thing that’ll save the last game from having a completely toxic atmosphere.
Regardless of how I feel about this season, it would be a sad way to end his time here considering he brought us a league title, no matter the circumstances. Not to mention, it would otherwise be even more of an unpleasant send off for Salah, Alisson, and Robertson.
Deluded.
I’ll give him a piggyback and I’ll do it naked.
Well fuck, there goes @Limiescouse 's theory.
Maybe he’s 100% sure because he won’t be part of that new team?
