I just don’t think Hughes goes for it. Someone above him taking away some of his responsibilities and basically replacing him as the lead on the operations side. He gets the hump and now you’re after a new Sporting Director and I’m guessing that’s on Klopp too.
Also don’t think any manager wants the shadow of Klopp looming over him. It’s one thing him getting that kind of role at a club he hasn’t managed but it’s another to have his name, or worse still cameras panning to him in the ground, every time we lose a game.
I think at some point we have to accept he’s gone and we need to find our next great manager. Not to mention the fact he seems to have some ambition to manage Germany at some point given the supposed clause in his contract with Red Bull.
You could be right about a potential sale of the club, because FSG don’t appear to give a shit about the direction of the team under Slot. If we go into next season with Slot and his coaching staff, I predict we’ll be in the lower half of the table maybe even a relegation battle. I honestly believe it’s that bad.
The thing is, some of us haven’t gotten over Klopp leaving. It will take time for us to come to terms with it.
We need a strong personality, who is charismatic, an excellent man manager, empathetic and effective tactical coach with high calibre coaching assistants to help him.
I posted this nearly two weeks ago… still think it would work
I could even endure the turgid football Slot would turn out for an entire season without complaint, if FSG would bring Jurgen back to run the entire show. Get rid of Hughes, get rid of Slot and in my opinion I would sacrifice Edwards also if that is what it would take. Let Jurgen put his own people in place, and off we go on another nail biting fairground ride just like the waltzes
Slot probably wouldn’t in all the irony. He knows he +others are getting replaced, it’s so toxic right.
But would the owners deny him the send off? It is borderline devaluing the club in this aftermath. I dunno though, maybe time will tell when the accountants get the calculators out?
Do you honour the legend and take the hit on the dollar numbers. Or stand firm and say, next please, we like the gamble, live to fight another day starting August etc..
I don’t see Jurgen wanting to come back. and if he came back as director of football then no manager who is ambitious would want to take up the Liverpool job. Because of the history club that Jurgen has with Liverpool football club, he will cast such a massive shadow that they won’t be able to operate without constantly looking over their back.
As for coming back as a coach after being rejuvenated. That could work but that could also ruin his legacy. And it would have to be obviously with a completely new group of players. Who knows he might be interested in that because his voice stopped having its effect near the end of his tenure with his old charges and I was at peace with him leaving even though it was incredibly sad.
The calculus of the league has changed and there is no big doped up power like Man City and Guardiola is close to leaving plus their team isn’t the force it used to be. And Arsenal frankly there for the taking.
it did work for Mourinho at Chelsea until he ruined it like he always does. So it’s not entirely out of the question. and he’s repeating it at Madrid again.
I genuinely believe we will be serious candidates relegation if slot stays next season. He has lost the dressing room to such an extent, and his lack of ideas or whatever passes in his mind for tactics is so much of a misfit for this league that after the first couple of defeats the bottom will drop out and there will be no way to bring us back other than getting rid of slot and bring someone in so that’ll be a season completely wasted. And sometimes when it’s really bad that downward momentum cannot be halted.
Been saying it for weeks on here, there’s a perfect storm brewing for next season. Most people are in denial thinking 2 or 3 signings in the summer are going to fix it.
The squad is a fucking shambles. Robbo and Mo going. If Slot is still here Endo, Chiesa and Joe Gomez might as well pack their bags. Gakpo and MacAllister have stunk the place out all season and there’s very little to suggest they’re going to improve. Bradley, Joe, Frimpong, Isak, Alisson and Konate all injury prone to one extent or another. Jacquet and Leoni unknown quantities. Ekiteke out until the end of the year. VVD will need his minutes managing. Wirtz struggling to adapt.
All of this on the back of a World Cup. If Slot is over-seeing it all then I genuinely fear for us. Relegation wouldn’t be out of the question.
I’ve been laughed at for suggesting we need 10 new players in the summer. I fear it might be more.
Yeah you are right… but that is why I included Gerard to take control of team affairs under the strict guidance of Jurgen. We all know Gerard has not got the support base to be offered the role on his own… this way (providing he dropped his entourage), we could end up with a die-hard, apprentice trained fan, flying solo in the managers seat in a few years time..
i’m wondering if we passed on Xabi because of FSG getting burnt by not being able to let go of Kenny after he took over from Hodgson and then having a mediocre season and then having to let him go which was difficult for all of us. Xabi is dearly loved ex red and one of our greatest midfielders ever. If things go south with him they’re not gonna be able to shift them very easily even when they should. It’s also the reason why I’m not keen on having Stevie as a manager.
I have resigned myself to expect the same management for at least the first half of next season.
My heart will want to watch the games, my head will probably convince me there is nothing to gain from it.
I have never felt like this, not even during the worst of times, there has always been hope. Hope that a change is around the corner, hope that I am wrong, etc.
Slot is staying 100% if we beat Brentford. Looks like we were NEVER interested in Xabi, Slots expectation to stay and all this media stuff about him being backed by higher ups.
So here is naive me again. Hoping results will go our way and a draw or even another loss will be enough to qualify for CL and Anfield crowd will show him exactly what we all are thinking.
Only Klopp can manage to pull in multiple useful players in a single transfer season, because his mindset was player suitability to his game first and foremost.
