Lol…The open play guru and the pressing guru is Slot and his team now lol…Etienne Reijnen didn’t even have a UEFA A license last season…
Apparently, Etienne Reijnen who held the post of “Video Analyst & Adviser Technical Staff” wasn’t so effective to RVP who had a rocky season at Feyenoord that RVP had to ask Dick Advocaat to give crucial tactical and strategic advice to him for the final stretch of the season. Feyenoord dropped from 1st to 2nd and stayed their ever since with a 19 points gap from the top of the table.
Hardly any confidence boosting at all with Mr Etienne Reijnen!
If I remember correctly, Slot’s Dad was complaining at the end of last season that the football his son played was boring and flat. That’s telling. Slot’s response was that it was effective. What does he tell him now?
It is the point, he is being lambasted for wanting or having his old assistant with him and as I said no different from all the top managers even Jurgen.
As Mascot would say this is the wrong stick to beat him with!
BTW I have been on the bandwagon for a change since November but some are just lambasting him for everything, when it is actually the norm and are going way over the top.
Yeah, it is worth considering how much of an impact Buvac and Krawietz in particular had when Jurgen first arrived at Anfield.
Reijnen is obviously someone who has worked closely with Arne at two of his previous clubs, and also played alongside him as a player so presumably is quite familiar with Arne’s system and approach. Maybe he is even somewhat influential in its design too.
Also, there may be an issue with the standard of the rest of the coaching team. It has been noticeable this season on several occasions where there appears to a difference in what the team are supposedly being asked to do and them actually doing it.
He’s argued that the style of play in the Premier league is so transformed we’ve had problems adapting, but next year…
A good indicator that he’s right would be a final league table that looks radically different this year to last year or predictions last August. We’ll confirm tomorrow, but my guess is that the final outcomes are all pretty predictable given past performances etc… except us
Reijnen is not it tbh…If his work is exceptionally stellar, RVP wouldn’t need to ask his old mentor to come back to give him tactical and strategic advice at Feyenoord…
Believe be. Brentford are going to be tough. And having been to Anfield many times this season and seeing the mood progressively sour…I’m not taking anything for granted. If we score first and get a second then maybe. But we are so shaky especially when we lose the ball it’s scary.
It doesn’t have to be ‘stellar’ to be effective. And, an inexperienced manager seeking input from an experienced manager they have faith in isn’t necessarily a sign that Reijnen is failing there.
