Slot is in the petri dish for sure.
Personally, I stopped paying close attention quite some time ago; instead, I tend to get a feeling of āvicarious embarrassmentā whenever I have to listen to him. I canāt explain it any other way. And unfortunately, the concept of āFremdschƤmenā doesnāt really translate directly.
There is no English word for that.
āCringeā
Iāve made my opinion pretty clear over the last few months on this sort of counter argument so I will just at simply that I think describing these responses as a stick being used to beat him is a mischaracterization of the majority of negative comments Iāve seen about it here. Furthermore, we have to be allowed to say that we donāt think this is going to work, or in the broader sense that we donāt think the way Slot has spoken about how to turn it around (of which this is one pillar) breeds any confidence without it being treated as some mindless gut reflex otherwise what the fuck are we even doing on a discussion board.
Which could be argued would be incomplete.
I mean the part where a relegated Hull City player is transformed into one of the best left backs of his generation.
This is a discussion board? I thought it was group therapyā¦

I think at this point we have our positions abundantly clear. I donāt think he can deliver what we need and therefore I think we should dispose of his services after the end of the season. But if the club decide that he can improve and him the tools to do it and we see an improvement early on in the season then Iām all for it. I donāt WANT him to fail.. I donāt think deep down anybody does.
I have been part of that we, but it is always in relation to the tactics and the way he speaks in regards to how it can negatively impact the players attitude.
However, there are posters on here who look at everything, even if it is normal for a coach to do, to use as cannon fodder to beat him with, stretching everything to absurdity as to why he should be sacked.
When he should be sacked, mainly for his coaching performance, which has been shockingly poor.
Well said.
A coach or manager is the sum of many parts. A failure in any single aspect will eventually catch up - winning or losing. If that were not the case, Mourinho, Benitez and Conte would have been successful for ever. Slot has too many frailties and public engagement is just one of them. Success on the field can paper over many cracks and who knows, a deep run in the cups, an emerging style of play or a stellar performance or two towards the end of the season may have been enough - but he has none of those. Public engagement is important and when picking the next incumbent, the hiring team should take note - the package is important - not just the elevator speach to the board.

For me it is all about what a coach does on the pitch, whether that is the training pitch or game day and how he gets the best out of the players and what he says to the players.
What goes on in front of the cameras is secondary, but still needs to be coherent, not bullshit or for gaining attention unless it is deflecting criticism on themselves than the players, mostly.
The presentation to Mo and Andy should be celebrating them as players.
No need to mention anyone else.
Self serving stuff, you are great, but only becauseā¦
100% itās an absolutely feeding frenzy at the minute. Leaping on poorly constructed turns of phrase, when itās obvious what he is trying to say. Itās not like there isnāt actual proper stuff to criticise.
I think a coach is what is assessed by what he gets the players to do on game day. Unfortunately for Slot, that plummeted as the season went on. One of the most boring seasons in recent memory.
.
Any thoughts of buying players should be put aside until we make a definitive decision on coach.
.
Half the players we have now donāt seem to fit in any formation. Just big names.
.
I would suggest we wouldnāt be buying players as we have been doing if someone new was coming in.
Been a whole to of reasons aired why Slot needs to go,many are totally valid, and if FSG in their wisdom, or otherwise, decide to keep him, it might stuff up their bottom line a tad.
A year ago did they not spend 450m to likely finish 5th,in most worlds that would be an iffy spend.
In the process of going nowhere we have seen quality players not used much,or properly, seemingly he has lost the dressing room..not easy for the same person to get back.He started with the full support of the club followers, who pay their hard earned, now that support is probably qualified, for him, for the club it doesnāt change, we just get frustrated!
We want the club to succeed all the time, and are unhappy when it does not and obvious signs are apparently ignored by those who make decisions, that we donāt know yet, but it is imminent.
A good manager/ head coach would be a great start,we do not need a pile of players, just a manager who can use what is here with some tweaks, clearly.
Hope this is addressed very soon, and gives an incoming manager time to work through all the stuff he has to.Slot can only be more of the same, one guy, unless he is JC will struggle to turn it all around.
I donāt think you can completely separate the two, to be honest. What happens in front of the camera isnāt the full picture, but itās definitely a window into the club.
Over time, you see the patterns. How a manager speaks and whether they sound in control or totally lost usually reflects the day-to-day vibe on the training ground. Itās rarely a coincidence.
Most managers are defined by one or two elite traits anyway, rather than being the complete package:
- Rafa: Pure tactician.
- Klopp: Elite man-management/getting buy-in.
- Pep: Strict footballing philosophy.
- Mourinhio:Mind Games, siege mentality
- Redknapp:Del Boy of the transfer market
Press conferences donāt tell us everything, but they absolutely give you clues.
Iām still not entirely sure where Arne Slotās main strength actually lies, though. Going off his press conferences, it definitely isnāt handling young players. He often comes across as pretty dismissive, or even openly critical of them. Heās had some awkward interactions, too. Itās not quite Brendan Rodgers levels, but it doesnāt exactly scream āelite man-managerā either. I think he likes to view himself as a tactician, but he only seems to tell the opposition how to beat us.
So while I agree, I dont care how he performs in front of the camera. I do care that the mannerisms (bluntness, lack of EI and awkwardness translates off camera too) seem to reflect issues at club.
If we are winning most is forgotten, but as soon as we are losing everything observed in detail and used against them.
My main gripe with Arne, media wise, is how he keeps going on about our issues against certain styles, for me donāt complain, get on with your job and resolve it.
As I have said many times, it is what he has done during games with regards to the squad, his treatment of Quansah. No problem taking him off, but that has to be the standard and it now looks like bullying as he hasnāt removed senior players when they are playing worse.
The other issue is, is the use of the squad or lack of it, all players need to have coach that can lift them to perform, that can be like Jurgen, who lifts players to perform above their ability or even fear, the fear of losing your place, a bit of both is even better.
Quite a number of us were ok and even surprised the amount we got for Quansah and now with hindsight is using that to hit Slot with. Again that is what some posters are banging on, that some section of fans are not just, rightfully, calling for a change of head coach, but a select few are making it a sport to mock, to blame Slot for every single thing. These select few are shameful to be honest.
