I would like to see a new manager, but at the same time I think our fan base has tipped into outright toxicity towards Slot, and that isn’t nice. It’s really strange to be simultaneously fed up of him and also feel sorry for him.
Sometimes, I get the feeling that they are keeping Slot in place just to spite us.
He is such an odd figure now. I really could not have imagined the sort of antipathy that he could build up among the supporters just one year on after delivering a title - we waited so long for the last one. Yet I feel it too, just game after game of frustration.
I think it is more likely that they have a preferred option - but if that option, whoever they may be, isn’t available or doesn’t want the job they are going to stick with Slot.
It’s an approach that has worked with the playing staff although I’m skeptical that it works with management.
It seems clear Alonso was never considered a target by the club and maybe they just don’t like the options out there right now. I’d take Iraola all day personally I think he fits here perfectly but maybe they disagree.
Sorta worked with Klopp, no?
Sounds like Iraola is close with AC Milan
Hence the entire squad should have staged a mutiny - and this time I will support “player power”. Had we beaten Chelsea, the last match could have been a golden opportunity to send out a message.
It worked in getting the right man but was that judgement or luck I’m not sure. I don’t like the idea of waiting another season to get their perfect target but given the success the approach has had in the past I can see the logic.
Of course I’m also totally guessing since the club have said nothing. I just can’t believe that anyone can view this season either through data or with their eyes and say “yes this guy is still the right man”.
I’m concerned about the damage that might be done of he stays in position while we wait for someone else but also I understand just hiring the latest hot name when you really want someone else isn’t a good idea either.
Please elaborate. Thanks
Fuck me , at any point the fans would call unanimously for a staged mutiny and player power to destroy the very ethos of what makes us liverpool fc…then i honestly hope the bombs drop and ends it all because supporting a player mutiny over who we are as a club is a fucking joke
Yeah, hard to say if we are in another ‘Rodgers until Klopp is ready’ scenario, or the view is that we just had a season where the results didn’t match what the performances statistically merited and/or there were a number of mitigating factors that derailed what was always going to be something of a transitional season.
I just hope they are not over-relying on analytics that are at best imperfect at this stage of evolution - and certainly some of the analytics point to some very troubling trends, like being systematically outrun/outworked in most matches.
To be honest, I’m more fed up with the club, because the deafening silence combined with the rumour mill and drip fed nuggets from trusted journalists is very frustrating.
It gives the impression that they think all is hunky dory, whereas it is obvious to anyone (including Slot) that it isn’t.
I feel sorry for Slot because I get the impression that he is not at liberty to discuss matters other than the meaningless platitudes that he comes out with at press conferences. He gets the brunt of the backlash because he is the public face of the club.
You put it perfectly there! I mean, he was instrumental in delivering one of the greatest moments in my time supporting Liverpool but he followed up by making me not want to watch the games for months now.
I wish he resigned from his post and saved himself further embarrassment and toxicity and us from that dreadful feeling of not looking forward to watching Liverpool play. Yes, I know things don’t work that way but he should be looking at Rodgers’ example - he never managed at the top again after failing here in similar fashion.
Nah mate that’s a bridge too far for me. No decent manager will come here when they see that.
And this current lot are a bunch of pansies anyway.
I’m not dismissing it but effort is largely down to attitude.
Over the weekend I watched a guy absolutely bury himself to practically a standstill in the Giro d’Italia. His job was to go hard and push the pace. He did that, and then some. Practically crying on the bike until there was nothing left.
I don’t see anyone running through walls for us at the moment. Chasing back for example.
I know mate. It’s why I loved the idea of getting Caicedo. He would absolutely do that.
And outwardly expressed by Jones early on in this collapse of spirit.
Oh fucking hell! We don’t need a visual representation of our apathy! ![]()

Is it possible that Slot could do a Hendo? ie. be written off by most, seemingly about to move on. Then 7 years later leaves as a legend having won everything possible?
Exactly the kind of thing we’ve routinely taken the piss out of other teams for👍
