I think they have been incredibly unlucky to a point. They tried to sign a new back four. One fell through due to bad faith from the selling club, one had a season ending injury in his first game, and Frimpong has had multiple injuries despite barely missing a day with the sniffles during the previous few seasons.
Add to that our existing RB picking up injuries and one of the centre backs phoning it in doesn’t help.
The coach should be able to work around that, but we know that Klopp struggled in such circumstances. The difference is that Slot hasn’t really had to cope with that type of thing before.
As I said a few posts back…if Slot goes…big if…who do we get…do we ask JK to come back ??? Or do we go and ask the novice of the bunch to step in…(SG)…has he still got the passion for LFC to fight for us tooth and nail…oh my days…we really are up shit street and need help…quick and fast…
I didn’t say he had nothing to do with transfers. I said he isn’t solely responsible for transfers. This isn’t Footy Manager on the PC. The idea that FSG gave Slot £450 and said ‘do what you want with that mate’ while Hughes and Edwards twiddled with their thumbs is risible.
We’re still wedding to idea of autocratic managers. I don’t think there are many clubs who work like that, never mind Liverpool.
Quite sure, unless he had his hand forced by Hughes and Edwards? But I’m quite sure that all the summer moves were a collective effort from the three of them.
We did see the ‘game plan’ degenerate. Trent and Salah heroics got us over the line comfortably. With a little help from Arsenal not being up to the task.
