Arne Slot - Head Coach

The reason was $$$$ for the ambition for the spend on the ‘generational’ players that were available. We’ve been capitalised and are bankrupt for it. I think its all 3 of them, Slot Hughes and Edwards, but when the full story of whats going on comes out, Im expecting its more of those two strategists doing.

He will not turn it around, sack him before it is too late.

Welp, that is the second test he failed in period from NFO to the new year. If he drew the game, it is not so bad…but losing 4-1 to PSV is really damning…

The next 2 PL games are not simple too from the looks of it…

Omg! Leeds and Sunderland are tough places to go to and try and win a match. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Slot must be wondering what more he has to do to get his ibiza sabbatical payout.

Luckily we are home to Sunderland then again

It doesn’t fill me with hope after losing to Nottingham Forest last week.

I am honestly scratching my head to see who could be a potential replacement manager. Right now, I would choose Caroline and Carol from the canteen.

Sunderland is above us in the league table btw…

Wasn’t too sure where to put this but a lot of the off form players are established Internationals, are they holding themselves back for the World Cup and not working hard or getting stuck in for fear of injury?

If so that is where competition comes in because if they don’t play for us then they don’t go, so lets put a rocket of the arse of some of these and play other players, give Endo, Ramsay, Chiesa & Joe a go.

But If we cannot beat weak sides like Leeds and Sunderland, then we can neither complain. Every place is tough away in the Premier League. That is the beauty of it.
If we lose the “easy” games, we must win the hard ones. And Leeds and Sunderland are not really among the hard ones, even though both teams can be difficult to win against away.

My opinion anyway.

Slot has lost them. They play with no belief.

It takes a special skill to inspire players in the face of adversity. It is apparent that Slot hasn’t developed it. They play as if they don’t know each other or trust each other, and they fold in the face of adversity.

I just don’t think he’s the man to bring them out of it.

I think the biggest problem for Slot is the fact he won the league last year but with a Klopp team. He has now assembled his own team at some considerable cost and his managerial world has imploded.
.
I think the question of whether he can turn it around is in his mind, no one else’s.
.
When you look at our position in the league, leaving the decision to Christmas would be dire, that’s of course if our current slump continues.
.
Lots of discussion going on behind the scenes I would suggest.

It’s extremely sad that it has come to this …we are discussing replacements. Although, I understand the sentiments, but the first person who should get the boot is Richard Hughes.
People seem to forget Slot was handed the coach role and not the manager. The whole fiasco of so many changes to the squad and unwanted sales(Diaz) and inability to sign a CB which slot wanted cannot be completely put on Slot. He is only trying to deal with the hand he has been dealt with.
I really hope he can turn his around…He has been stuck in 2 minds…either change the playing style to suit new signings or go back to counter pressing.

One other reason which has led to the downfall of Slot is inability to utilize squad and mantain that team spirit. In Klopps reign…we could put academy players in carabao cup final and they will run through the brickwall for him…but can’t say the same with Slot…the squad players don’t feel part of it…and it has eventually hurt team spirit.

As far as replacements are concerned I don’t want either of Glasner or Iraola. Completely unproven at this level. It’s not easy to jump into shoes where you are expected to win every game from a small club.
With the scale of our club, we cannot do experiments with unproven managers. We need serial winners. Klopp was one…And so was Rafa. Even Slot has won the league. The name I would throw in the hat is Simone Inzaghi. The man is a serial winner and master tactician. He will utilise our full backs really well and most importantly enable that shape tactically which might unlock us.

This summer, the whole league was scared that we may go back to back league wins …and this is so unfair on us whats happening now.The squad is still top quality, just lacking shape and style of play to suit them players.
Whatever happens… doesn’t look like an easy ride for us as fans. My heart goes out to Slot…he shouldn’t be in this rot…still hoping he can work this out…club needs to help him out, if he needs xtra coaching staff.
Patience is important :folded_hands:

Among the hard ones we had, we only won the arsenal one. The rest were all losses…

If we are aiming for top 4, it is still doable albeit god knows how many more losses can we take before it is too late? But to retain the title? It has long sailed from us.

If by some freak chance, we drop out of the UCL competition altogether for this season, that might be the last straw for FSG though…

Slot not only inherited Klopp’s players, he inherited the self-belief Klopp instilled in them. Once that faded…

What gives anyone any reason to believe that things will turn around by some arbitrary deadline?

This isn’t a team destroyed by injuries that’s waiting for the cavalry to arrive.

Is he sacked yet?

Bar for Isak and Macca and Alisson , Slot had a full pre-season from late June onwards to tweak his tactics and see what is working and not working. The signs were there in the last 4 games of last season but whether Slot took it seriously when teams began to figure his tactics out is another issue altogether.

The signs continued from the start of this season with the team needing last minute heroics to win matches or a stroke of genius or a random mistake from the opposition. It simply masked the tactical deficiencies during possession, OOP and to a certain extent, set-pieces.

Last minutes heroics only work when your OOP work is consistently good as a platform to launch from. Stroke of genius goals only works when your set-piece work is good. Getting mistakes from the opposition only works when your pressing shape is effective and players are willing to put in a challenge. All these are currently missing from this team.

This has nothing to do with the head coach’s ability to rally the players. All these are tactical and training ground stuff.
