Arne Slot - Head Coach

I think the way we defend set pieces coming into our box… is we just put a cluster of players in there to create ‘Keystone Cops’ moments… It is this cluster that fucks us up from defending the ball coming in…
What is the point of Ibou being 6’4", when he slides into a tackle he has no need to do… The guy must be in the worst from of his entire life… and we are suffering because of it…!

yeah Alonso right now has a good feel to it.

all the talk was using LFC as a stepping stone to the Madrid job for him, now if he comes in, that whole rumour mill and pressure is a non entity, AND he doesnt have to endlessly be compared to Klopp

im trying to not lay the boot into Slot though, feels like a shitty thing to do… tough times…

Alonso is under contract in Madrid and they are not far off Barca in the table. No ways he’s leaving mid season.

yeah, i know i got laughed off, but Gerrard till may, Alonso in June…

i understand why the Gerrard call makes me a bit of a mockery… but as a pure interim…no other names really jump out.

to me its Slot for the season, but if it has to happen, then wait for the right manager and have an interim that is quite basic in setting the team up

a true band aid solution.

Since this awful run started against Crystal Palace away, we’ve only won 4 games from 15 - Aston Villa, Real Madrid, Frankfurt and West Ham.

For me, try and get someone like Joachim Lowe as interim, a World Cup winning manager who wants to work, and will have the respect of the players. It buys you time to see whether the likes of Luis Enrique, Xabi Alonso or Julian Nagelsmann want to manage us next season.

Nah. Gerrard as a manager has proven that he is divisive and tactically inept. I don’t want to see a club legend tarnish his reputation.
If he did well as interim the club would be under pressure from all of us to give him the job full time. I think we all know where that ends.
Caretaker until the right man is available, yes. Gerrard…not a chance.

yeah. i understand the push back.

if this keeps going much longer maybe he could get a playing contract?

i jest.

kind of.

all that said, im a bit loath to lay the boot into Slot, not just becuase of last seasons win, ive seen a few people getting sick of his press conferences and comments, maybe its an exposure thing, but i still think hes behaving with dignity and respect, his comments are honest and humble…hes miles away from the rodgers era press conference.

i see a humble man, trying his best… so yeah…

Cliche alert … but at the end of the day if you can’t coach a squad of exceptionally talented players into patterns of play to win football games against inferior opposition then you shouldn’t keep your job.

We have been better recently but this is still miles away from what is acceptable.

We got told by people after the City game where a 3 nil loss should be expected we had easy fixtures coming up. Those 5 games we have won 1. Topped with having conceded 3 or more goals in 4 of last 6 games.

Yeah but we arguably look as bad this season as we did in Rogers last half a season.

If they don’t play well he can make them lick his booger fingers (assuming its the same guy).

I can see it now, Carragher, sitting with a group of pundits after 5 straight wins in a row …

“Get the contract out, put it on the table, let him sign it, let him write whatever numbers he wants” because “Stevie G’s at the wheel”

Key difference being the club had a replacement lined up…

Mo interview wow, slots days numbered.

Jurgen Klopp is literally the only manager that has the personality to turn this around short term, I just don’t think he would be interested in a part time job, and I don’t think Liverpool management want him long term.

As far as a manager returning to a club and being successful, he is literally the only person I would trust. This is not a King Kenny equivalent.

They both numbered, Slot wont recover and Mo is on the wrong end of his career to recover. If he’s a bit part player now (rightfully so), hows he going to react next year?

The only manager I would accept is Alonso but that is a pipe dream.

Often when a big club struggles and everyone calls for the head of the manager, fans look to an over achieving smaller club for the replacement. So we are hearing of Glasner and Iraola now amongst others.

Off the top of my head what is the history of managers being promoted within the PL in the recent past?

  • Potter. Fail
  • Moyes. Fail
  • Rodgers. Fail
  • Howe. Going OK
  • Frank. They wanted him gone last week. Jury’s out
  • Santo. Fail
  • Maresca. They wanted him gone not long ago. Jury’s out

Not doubt I’ve missed some successful ones. It’s a big call to sack now and throw in a caretaker for the rest of the season or chase others in the league.
