I wonder who James Wathland is.

Mo Salah alias?
Jan Age has said senior players are questioning Slot. What ever way you look at it the club has been turned into a laughing baaket case 4 wins in 15 games.
If they ‘give it Gerrard until the end of the season’ we are truly fucked.
all feels a bit rehearsed.
Whether Slots been asked/forced to burn Salah, or wether Salah has something lined up and is just moving it along, or both, or whther the suits are playing the two sides off a bit…
as far as timing goes, its pretty perfect…1 game to say goodbye, so its gonna happen REAL quick, not dragged out over months and months, a solid contract so a fee and a starting point for the player himself to negotiate…
you couldnt design an acrimonious split up where all parties benefit better…
Salah coming out is a symptom not the cause.
Reality is it shows it’s not a happy camp. The troubles extend beyond what we are seeing on the pitch.
It’s not unreasonable to believe several players feeling similarly. It’s just Mo is comfortable enough to be the voice (new contract, end of career, can easily get transfer elsewhere).
We have seen similar situation play out elsewhere. At this stage I don’t think Slot has much credit left in the bank.
Salah on the other hand will likely come back from AFCON and will have half a season with a new manager.
I don’t want to get into the realms of lads in the twilight of their career like Salah and Van Dijk turning on Slot as a pro it’s of the dying of the light of their own powers.
I remember when Carragher and Gerrard, by then in their thirties, turned on Rafa and championed Hodgson, whereupon they landed bumper new contracts for their efforts.
Klopp back until the end of the season then get Alonso when Madrid fire him for not winning a treble
maybe your taking the piss out of me a bit, but the reasons im throwing out Gerrard instead of Klopp in this scenario is for Klopps and his succesors own good, if Klopp goes well, then the pressure really turns up for his return, if he goes bad, then its a bit of a limp end to his time with us.
Barring relegation, and i really dont think it will come to that, i think we can now spend the season working towards next season, miss out on the thursday cup, concentrate on cleaning up a few messes, concentrate on performances, not results…
i know im mocked, but Gerrard working under strict guidlines as to where to work on this squad, what to concentrate on, could be OK. again, i dont think he or Slot get us relegated, and i dont think you can ask Slot to ‘see out the season mate, get these lads ready for Xabis style of football, cheers’
it makes sense on a few levels…again, i realise this puts my head above the parapet…
people can mock us all they like about repeating the OGS mistake, i think we are more than strong enough to chart our own course through these nexty few months
I actually think Gerrard as interim could get a ‘new manager bounce’, just with his legend and passion. But then if he did well for a couple of months then he (and many fans) would want him to get the job permanently. And there’s been no evidence that that would work out well
Surely we should do the cuntish thing and prise someone out of their current job (assuming that someone is who we want)?
LFC is a pretty fucking attractive gig, and as I said earlier, it ain’t a squad of scrubbers they’d be walking into.
It wouldn’t be pretty, but I don’t really GAF.
I don’t want to get into the realms of lads in the twilight of their career like Salah and Van Dijk turning on Slot as a pro it’s of the dying of the light of their own powers.
different ownership, different management structure, different circumstances. We are the defending champions. If Arbe Slot goes, it’ll be because the club have decided to dispense of his services. It will not be because Mo Salah or Virgil van Dijk have asked for it.
I think Salah should be sold before Slot is sacked. Salah’s performance is not worth £400k+ per week, and him speaking out like this seems toxic to me.
Remove it, it’s toxic, and give Slot a chance to rebuild the culture. Obviously we also must improve on the pitch.
If he cannot do it, Slot will be finished here too, but I’d rather he had a chance to do his job without the hindrance of player power from underperforming stars.
I don’t understand why he didn’t go either high block or low block when defending, especially when it comes to long balls. Mid block did us no favours whatsoever, and slot himself admitted that our mid block defensive structure has been a shambles before the Real Madrid match.
Problem is our under performing stars include the ones we have just spent hundreds of millions on.
The camp is not underperforming because of Salah. He is one of 6 or 7 performing well below where they should
I completely agree, lots of them are underperforming. But pragmatically, the likes of Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike will be key building blocks of the emerging side and Salah won’t.
In addition, apart from performance, Salah is the one who is speaking out publicly like this. It does not feel like the Liverpool way to me, and it is very damaging for our culture.
I think Salah should be sold before Slot is sacked.
No way Salah will agree to a move before Egypt is out of the Africa Cup and I doubt we can hold on to Slot for that much longer.
You might be right, I suppose it all depends on the results.
But on principle, if a player is publicly speaking against the manager like this it is toxic, and the player should not prevail.
I absolutely don’t see it that way. Slot had plenty of time with this squad, but he never used it properly and always just played his 11 to 14 favorites. No wonder the players are unhappy. I don’t believe for a second that Mo is the only one who’s dissatisfied; there will be several players who feel unfairly treated. I really struggle with this.
