Right, but the question is about Slot’s judgement, one that put the club in a position of both trying to support the manager and protect their interest in a player they independently value
I didn’t exactly type that with a tear in my eye.
“Liverpool’s owners have given Arne Slot their full backing and it is unlikely that Salah’s outburst will have any bearing on their stance.”
“FSG wants Arne Slot to come through what is proving a hugely difficult second season and has shown no signs of wavering on that.”
“Patience will not be limitless but results will ultimately dictate Slot’s future, not Salah stomping his feet.”
“One key question remains unanswered and that is what he [Salah] hopes to achieve from a remarkable act of betrayal.”
[Paul Joyce, The Times]
So again it is all about him, not the club he supposedly loves!
Do it
The results have been a shambles the whole of 2025, if 18 losses doesn’t spell the end for him, what the fuck will? Current champions giving up on the season, what a disgrace. This man should’ve got the boot after Forest, we’d be sitting 4th in the table right about now.
ahhhhh…
the dreaded vote of confidence…
Who actually has the power to sack Slot in our hierarchy? Is it Hughes?
Theoretically, but I imagine it would require board approval.
It’s clear Hughes doesn’t want to sack Slot because appointing the wrong successor would backfire on him.
There are already questions about Hughes.
I think this is by far the wisest move and one I’d completely expect from FSG. The club is on a knife-edge and needs stability.
In fact, it feels like Mo shooting his mouth off actually strengthened Arne’s position.
Results will be the deciding factor hmmm.
How is it the wisest move. Its doing nothing in the hope things will get better.
Patience will not be limitless.
It’s clear Slot is under scrutiny, and rightly so. But whatever calculus FSG have for sacking the manager, he has not reached the end of the line with them yet.
My guess is Slot will get the season, until the point where mathematically it is impossible to qualify for the CL. That viewpoint has now strengthened, given Salah’s outburst. I think the first order of business will be to deal with the Salah situation, whether that is some sort of reconciliation, or a January departure. My opinion is he will be off in January.
But that doesn’t mean Slot is free and clear. And the owners have just said as much. They framed it as a difficult second season, and while it is playing out they have backed the manager, but also said it is not unlimited patience.
That’s all fair enough to me.
Dude…if you think FSG leave anything in the hands of ‘hope’, you’re dreaming…
@RedOverTheWater said it nicely two posts up.
It a remarkable leap of logic to assume that a team that looks mentally lost would have automatically won all their subsequent games had Slot been sacked.
So if they sacked him after forest you just presume we win the matches after ?..and if we didnt youd have been demanding that person be sacked and feigning usual outrage that it was disgusting to sack a title winning manager…
Seriously youre the indykalia of this forum…always hyperbole .
Doubt it. I think Slot would be long gone if the gap to 5th would be more than 6 points by now.
