That’s one possible interpretation.
Slot is already that guy. It was not just that he was Hughes’s first big appointment, but that the decision was so driven by Hughes’ evaluation of him. You feel that will give afford him a bit more patience than some assume, but also means Hughes is VERY read in to what the common understanding was between Slot and the club and so well positioned to judge how much of this fuck up is on Slot

It is entirely within the realms of possibility that FSG knew this season would be farked (particularly after DJ) and have an eye on the next five seasons.

You might be right, let’s see.
I just feel that the first order of business will be to sort out the Salah situation - reconciliation or a move; and the second order of business will be Slot.
It was starting to feel like the question mark over Slot’s position was coming to a head, but to my mind, the Salah situation has just relieved some of the pressure on that. But it’s not unlimited patience from the owners, and nor should it be.
I’m just guessing what their trigger might be. Presumably the availability of another candidate will also factor into the thinking.
No way on this earth they thought we would be on a run like this.

The very unsinister, unconspiratorual version of events is that something had to change, and that being the case you made as well change the thing that is going to be disappearing for six weeks for a tournament anyway.

FSG are not stupid. They have mapped this out. They have a limit, demonstrably a limit many people think is too much. We have not hit that limit yet. The end.

The Salah problem was him speaking out as he did. Before that it was just a player off form who had been dropped. That in itself is not that big of a deal. Delicate, yes, given his standing and achievements, but still just an everyday footballing issue.
But then Salah’s comments blew the whole thing up. Had he been able to say, “I will work hard every day in training, and when the manager calls on me to play I will do my utmost to help the team” that would have been respectful, humble, and appropriate. And in all likelihood it would have endeared him all the more to the many alarmed reds - including me - who think it is wrong to air your grievances this way.

What are you even getting at.
My point is you keep speaking about the situation as if it is settled that Quansah was not yet ready to play at this level and so rightly not get the games he needed to develop. The majority of the people who disagree with his sale do so because they don’t agree with that view of him.
Beating Sunderland and Leeds a “remarkable leap”, heard it all now. If this is the sort of defeatist attitude we’re resorting to, then what is even the point.
I don’t disagree, but maybe when Guehi went tits up and Isak dragged into 2057 and Diogo passed they assessed the risk and anticipated it was gonna be extra bumpy.
