Arne Slot - Head Coach

Welcome to the forum mate!

I do agree that we needed more control when Slot came in and he did that initially and we also still had teeth with our press.

At the moment though the slow play is restricting our attacking impetus and making it easy for teams to defend.

Also the same slow play continues even when we are in a good shape, there seems a lack of the inspiration to change the tempo, playing at one tempo makes it easy for the opposition.

Variety in play and tempo makes the opposition unsure and hesitant.

Oh and welcome

Yea i agree with that, just think maybe it’s a conscious decision while the players get their confidence back and learn to play with new team mates. I’m quite the optimist haha, but I fully expect 9 points from the next 3 games before Arsenal!

I expect the same and also expect the performances to be brilliant.

It is post games that is the issue for me, where I see flaws and doubts creep in.

Welcome to the madhouse

The changes that Slot has implemented are a band aid and are not sustainable in the long run. The question is whether or not he can have us playing expansive football again without being wide open at the back.

So far, it doesn’t look like he’s any closer to figuring it out and it’s not because of the new players. It’s not their fault that we can’t defend set-pieces or the minute we try to be a bit more adventurous like against Brighton we end up giving up numerous chances.

There are serious issues with his coaching, which he won’t be able hide forever by slowing the tempo to a standstill and relying on gifts by the opponent.

“The tackle of Van de Ven, I think if you make that tackle 10 times, I think 10 times there is a serious chance that a player gets a serious injury.”

Slot later turned his focus to the tackle from his fellow Dutchman, describing it as a “reckless challenge” which always had a “serious chance” of inflicting a long-term injury.

The scissor challenge should be treated with zero-tolerance just like the sliding tackle from behind was made. There is a very high chance of a serious injury from both challenges.

Even attempting a challenge like that should result in a straight red. Just like the shirt-off celebration is an automatic yellow (stupidest rule in football but same automatic principle should apply to a scissor challenge).

That’s the only way you eliminate these

I’m sorry but Slot needs to just STFU now because he’s chatting complete shite.

For years myself and others have lamented the fact we’re a soft touch. Everyone knows it. Assault after assault on our players with no comeback. Pickford on VVD, Richarlison on Thiago, MacAllister and Gakpo (or Diaz, can’t remember which) getting studs in the chest, Sanchez on Diaz, Cresswell on Henderson, Jones and Jota getting crocked by yard-dogs at Brentford, that Chelsea cunt who fell on Jota (setting off the chain of events that ended how it did), Endrick on Konate, Caicedo on Gravenberch in the Carabao final, Party on Diaz, Pickford on Nunez, Tarkowski on MacAllister, Gordon on VVD, Simons on VVD, VDV on Isak, Salah getting ragged all over the place every fucking game… the list goes on and on. I’ve most likely forgotten more.
Some we’ve got away with. Many have resulted in bad injuries that have left our lads seriously hurt. As with referees it’s a fucking one-way street, I can’t remember too many opposition players being crocked by our lads being out of control, seem to remember morton injuring someone in a Carabao cup game against Leicester a few years ago but that’s about it.
And yet Slot, like the fucking idiot he is, comes out in defence of Simons and says it wasn’t intentional. How ther fuck does he know? Then again it runs through the club I suppose, with our players comiserating with poor old Simons as he gets sent off.
No wonder these cunts feel free to leave one on our players whenever they can. The other way round and they’re screaming at the ref to send our player off.

Then he talks about Ngumoha and how much he’s played. Yeah, 224 minutes this season, including a massive 46 minutes in the prem. He’s played the equivalent of 4 90 minute matches in his career so far, mainly against fucking dross where Slot has thrown the whole team under the fucking bus.

And of course we don’t need Harvey Elliott back in January do we Arne? Because we’re absolutely sorted down that RHS aren’t we? Sorted with fucking crocks, shit defenders and players you hate.

I’ve heard and seen enough from this fucking clown, the sooner he’s sacked the better.

You know what, I watched a video of him talking when they visited Alder Hey hospital and felt a bit guilty about calling for his head recently. He’s a human being like the rest of us sort of thing.
Then I heard about what he’d said in the presser. Fuck me…

Sounds as tiresome as your posts to be fair.

I think Slot was trying to draw attention to the VdV leg breaker by saying it was far worse than the one that actually got a red card

The scissor challenge isn’t tolerated and mostly reslts in at least a caution.

You want someone to come out and say something, then when they do you have a go.

Also, not every challenge a player makes has intent to hurt someone, it is part and parcel of a contact sport, challenges are mistimed or a puece of skill bamboozles them.

When playing, I have made challenges for the ball which were mistimed or a bit of skill from a opponent has caused me to catch them and could easily have resulted in injury might occur and I am sure others on here have done the same.

However how referees deal with it is the issue and Van der Vens challenge highlights it, but it us amazing how none of us were surprised he didn’t get his marching orders as there is and always has been a blind eye turned towards that kind of challenge when someone scores and wrongly so.

In explaining (defending) the decision, Dale Johnson cited the challenge on Shaw several years that broke his leg as the type refs need to see to decide it is worth a red. It was then pointed out to him that defender didnt get sent off either

Funes Mori on Origi (probably the worst of them all, because it permanently took away that crucial bit of speed and quickness from Divock), some manc on Keita
