When you are in the situation Liverpool was in several weeks ago, the priority is to stop the bleeding. Not necessarily implementing a long term solution.
Its a process and its often in phases. Each phase builds on the previous one…
2 months ago Man City was in a low block vs Arsenal. Today their football is at a different level…
There are legitimate reasons for some fans wanting to change the manager. But calling for his head based on what he said about Simons seems a bit strong.
Maybe he knows Simons personally, and was just saying that it was out of character, and he didn’t mean to cause injury as he’s not like that?
But then another Dutchman was called out, Mickey Van de Ven, and rightly so, as his challenge was much worse, even if the ref thought nothing of it.
I’m not at the point of wanting Slot gone. Still happy to adopt a wait and see policy. We have been poor this season and there is a lot of work to do to turn it around, even if, after a disastrous slump, the last few games have yielded better results. The performances are, of course, still way below par and we are watching to see if he can get a better tune out of them.
Does he get any points for winning the league at his first try? He should!
And while I don’t disagree that the football we are playing is not good, at all, it still yielded three actual points - not Slot points but actual points - away from home against a fired up Spurs side.
I didn’t hear Slot defending Simons. I think it’s about contrasting the two. Basically, Arne was saying that if Simon’s challenge earns a red, then Van De Ven’s far more dangerous challenge deserves at least that.
I don’t think intentionality is relevant in these assessments, anyway. It’s about their recklessness.
Its not about you acknowledging it. I couldn’t care less.
It’s about understanding the process and the difference phases of it, so that one doesn’t make unintelligent commentary…
Arne Slot: “I am almost happy that we’re out of the League Cup”
Embarrassing stuff imo. We’ve won the league last season, reached the final of this competition and spent almost £450m on new players. This club should have the ambition to win everything every year.
The fact he managed us to our 2nd league title in 35 years means nothing then?
As for calling him a clown. Well that pretty much highlights our online fanbase.
I remember dalglish being treated with similar disdain on this forum in his first (and only) full season (or tia, whatever the fuck it was at the time).
I didn’t visit here much at all during klopps tenure but it wouldn’t surprise me if there were similar comments during his 2 ‘bad’ seasons either.
Of course he gets points for the title and the football of his first months. LFC is not a sacking club, but there’s no way he would have kept his job if it was all bad.
You really think that you’re privy to some higher truth that those disagreeing with you are too stupid to realise?
It’s not really a question of ambition though. His comments are more a reflection of squad availabilty and his feeling that he needs more time on the training pitch with them.
