but Klopp pretty much put out a full team in every round,
kids didnt really appear until the final.

Yeah the league cup is a bit of a booby prize - especially if you get all the way to the semi and don’t win. I would like to see it reserved for clubs not in Europe; it’s a worthy trophy for teams that aren’t likely to compete for the bigger prizes but not something that a team like ours gets too excited about. I think Arne’s comments were perfectly understandable and he even said ‘almost’ to be a little diplomatic.

Worth bearing in mind the League Cup in it’s various guises accounts for nearly 20% of the trophies on that wall of honour we’re all so proud of.
Why are we re-prosecuting something that was already talked to death when it happened?
When we got knocked out of the league cup there were plenty who said they didn’t like the line up as it was too weak, and almost felt like it was throwing in the towel. They pointed to our rich history in the competition too. All fair points.
Conversely, there were plenty of others who said that it was just the league cup, and while it’s nice to win a trophy, the prestige that comes with it these days is massively diminished, as reflected in the £100k prize money for the 2025 winner. We were not a well-oiled machine at the time of our exit (still aren’t) with the depth that made Slot comfortable to play a stronger team.
Whichever side of that argument a person leans toward, it was all discussed when we went out! It seems odd to wheel it out as a current talking point against Slot.

Of course he has. He isn’t going to be able to say anything else. Criticising him for saying exactly what his employer needs him to say feels a bit two footed.
I would think the discussions around Elliot and terminating his loan are really difficult, with all sorts of factors to bear in mind like what happens to the loan fee, is there anything to negotiate around the agreed fee, who pays his wages for the rest of the season. There was rumour of a first refusal/discount deal around Rodgers that might need to be thrashed out.
Slot simply cannot start suggesting we really want Harvey back and we’ll give him loads of minutes when we are probably trying to get a good deal from Villa on his return.

As soon as a mind is made up on a manager, everything becomes evidence of his incompetence.
He says one thing in a press conference, and it’s evidence he has no clue what he is doing. He says the opposite and it’s still evidence he doesn’t know what he is doing.
The reality is that nothing a manager says in a press conference should be taken this seriously. Nothing, in good times or bad times. Everything is always said with an agenda, and it’s rarely ever said for our benefit.

I said it and I’ll say it again: Stop talking about it and fix the bloody issue then! I am tired of him moaning about it while we are not seeing any improvement at all.
Look, I want Slot to succeed, as it means our beloved team will do well at the same time. But his press conferences are getting unbearable (at least to me).
