Probably the only area where I would agree with Slot 100%. He’s more vocal on these things than Klopp ever was.
Just a couple of matches back, there were some complaining that the club is not vocal enough about the bias against the club. Now Slot is voicing out, he is too whiny? At some point of time, these critics of Slot have become a farce. They will use anything and everything to criticise Slot and dilute any sort of credibility on their critique.
again. as always.
the people who criticised the club for not calling out certain issues are not the same ones now complaining, and people have different opinions on these matters.
to the left of any post is a users name, perhaps an avatar or a letter indicating their initials.
where there is a different user name, it indicates it is a different person, possibly with a different opinion.
i think this is where you maybe getting unstuck
this forum is a pretty cool place, but blanket blaming everyone for every opinion it really detracts from the conversation.
cheers and hope you take this in the spirit it is meant.
Was going to post something similar. As we know, each formanite has their own perspectives, biases, interests and skills: some of us sell our art (horse oeuvre trending at sothebys?) for big bucks, others of us provide comedic, intellectual or kind friendly vibes and others are five star fuckwits. It would a mistake to assume any kind of hive mind on any potentially polarising issue like the patience the club should show to a manager who won us only our second league title in 35 years just last season.
So what do you supply?
Clues in the speech bubble next to my name

Again. Sure. And you can take your own advice and take my post in the spirit it is meant to be,
Great post here…A lot of things will need to fall into place for Slot to lose his job. Liverpool probably can afford terminating Slot’s contract at any time.
If all of us can see it, Slot sure as hell can see it. He knows he is fucked. He knows he is not gonna win the PL or the UCL this season to save his job. He knows that the moment LFC is looking close to dropping out of UCL spots entirely this season at maybe GW 30-32, and some great candidates is suddenly available, he’s gone too.
The only way for him last till the summer of 2026, is to secure UCL for next season.
However, the most important domino here is the availability of other highly regarded coaches. If that domino falls, everything will fall in place.
Slot will need to pray very hard to God for the following :
- Cesc Fabregas and Xabi Alonso don’t leave Como and RM mid-season respectively
- Zidane not envisioning himself to get the mini-galacticos of Anfield rolling
- Andoni Iraola not dreaming of reuniting with one of his favourite LBs
Of those I’d suggest that only Xabi would automatically encourage FSG to pull the plug on the Slot Machine.
What about Thomas Tuchel? There’s someone with a great CV that outdoes pretty much everyone. He’s certainly achieved a lot more than Alonso. And he’s the only one we know of who definitely will become available in the summer.
Of the names mentioned, probably only Xabi comes across as a Liverpool kind of hire and right for us.
Not keen on Tuchel. He could start a fight in an empty room.
I echo everyone’s feelings on Alonso. I have a feeling that Alonso and Liverpool might be one of those “you can’t always get what you want but sometimes you get what you need” situations. I’ve felt for years that he only ever wanted the Real Madrid job - and he proved me right last summer. He might ride out the storm and become a managerial great there - I wouldn’t put it past him - or he might as well buckle under player pressure and leave.
If the latter is the scenario that plays out, Liverpool hierarchy will dismiss Slot, probably in the summer. We might as well qualify for CL if there’s some strengthening done to the side but the tactical and mental aspects of the game are thoroughly discouraging and I still don’t see Slot turning that around.
I really dislike Tuchel. He’s like the Anti-Klopp.
Xabi is far from being available.
Imagine if this was Slots first season here. He struggles but is likely to finish Top5 and qualify for CL. Think much more people would say ‚give him time‘ instead of calling for his head even if the football would be this bad.
Think expectations grew with him winning the title in his first season. Makes no sense actually.
I’ve said it a few times now. The owners won’t sack him because of shit football. Their main criteria is qualifying for CL because that’s where the money comes in.
One might think Hughes will push to sack - he’s the sporting director and it’s important for him that the team offers ‚good’ football.
Think again because Slot is Hughes’ man. The next one would have to deliver trophies AND good football. And that would put Hughes under pressure.
I think a point both ways has been made.
- People who have decided that Slot should go have a tendency to criticize everything
- People who support Slot also have a tendency to defend everything. A point can be made that this is potentially a response to the negativity but still one sided.
Hopefully (hope is perhaps too strong… maybe a miracle is needed), we can realize these tendencies and be more objective.
- We have played poorly this year
- We have, perhaps, one of the most unbalanced squads we have had in the last decade
- We had high turnover in the squad which is often associated with transition periods
- We have the extreme rarity of having a manager who won the PL.
- Most probably attribute the title to luck or Klopp more than managerial skill
- We have a manager who has made a number of mistakes this year
- We don’t believe in transition periods or that they should last long if they do
- The squad is dealing with grief, the effects of which are unknown
- The manager’s frankness which we found refreshing last season is annoying us this year
- We have a lot of injuries and the squad is threadbare
- We have been finding it hard to field a consistent starting 11 for more than a couple games this season
- There are some players who every fan feels should be given an opportunity but the manager doesn’t give it (pretty sure this is the same for every manager)
- Many key players are underperforming
- We really suck at set pieces
- Slot is still relatively inexperienced and there is room for improvement
- Progress is often not linear, can take time and might be ugly in the process
- We actually haven’t spent that much. If you look at net spend (which reflects spending above losses in the squad) and then adjust for the loss of Jota which was disastrous on many levels… Slot has had far less to build with than those at the top
- Our top scorer last year fell off a cliff, publicly started a feud and is away at AFCON
- We are playing really uninspiring football but still occupying a CL position
I don’t know whether Slot can turn it around as some circumstances are unrecoverable from or he lacks the tools for this particular circumstance or his time might be near over. But he is still a very uniquely talented manager. Let’s not take last season’s title win away from him.
If my sums are correct, we’re unbeaten in 8 with 5 wins, 3 draws, goal diff +6.
The 8 games before that was 3 wins, 5 losses, goal diff - 2.
He’s done what we needed in stopping the rot, but at the expense of free flowing attacking football.
I’m willing to see how the rest of the season unfolds and how the new players inprove before jumping to any conclusions. Don’t want us to turn into Chelsea with a new manager every other day ![]()
We need to improve performances. Some games we do provide enough to see us over the line, other games fuck all.
I thought he had to go when we lost to PSV but he’s bought enough time to see the season out. If he was to improve performances and qualify for the CL. I’d be ok with it, if we start to see dire results again then I would hope a change is made.
However we don’t know what Hughes will do as we haven’t yet seen him in action. If however Slot does not buy into their plan he will be gone, I don’t think FSG will hold on to another Rodgers (and I mean in disagreements with purchases and moaning), I don’t think Slot is quite there yet.
He’s not though, you are are stating this from a results pov, while others are looking at this from a performance pov. We had 15 points after 5 games, perfect, yet there were many on here that were still concerned as the performances were weak.
And yes, we definitely want to wait till the end of the season, although we would have to fire and hire 10 managers before the next season starts in order to be compared to Chelsea.
