Arne Slot - Head Coach

I’m more worried about having our eyes on anyone United thinks is good enough!!

Eh, I’m less interested in who United thinks is good enough. They wanted Klopp badly, after all.

Hard to argue with that!

Liverpool would purchase players regardless who the manager is, that’s the new setup. And it evidently seems what happened in the summer. There is no point in a football director if a set up is dependent on the manager.

That’s an oversimplification. Liverpool is going to buy players which is consistent with the head coach’s setup and play style. They’re not going to just buy players without considering those factors.

But they will know what setup they want though. It doesn’t much matter at this point whether that’s Slot or someone else.

I would say the bigger concern is probably CL revenue. This season and next, we have two qualifiers before the window shuts.

I know you all want Slot gone but it’s not happening and lack of signings doesn’t point to it.

I’d like you to re-read my post ta.

What part?

I interpreted “I’ll take a step back if you don’t mind” as “I’d take a step back if you don’t mind”. As it was more suited to the narrative of the rest of the post.

Iv re read your post. Can’t find an answer to my question. So I will ask again, what do you want to see happen? Ta

To think that the amount of money we paid for Wirtz alone could have got us Guehi AND Wharton last summer…

On top of that the Isak transfer.

IMO next transfer window we should spend money to actually expand the squad.

I do remember Klopp used to have lots of senior midfielders on hand, even though Ox/Lallana/Keita spent too much time injured. OTOH, we only have 5-6 right now.

I can only think of 3 more, Milly, Hendo and Gini, making it 6, so no real difference.

Yup, and the moment he started to fade… (March?)

Quite there is no difference, there is a lot of rose tinted views.

Fabinho? And before him Can and Coutinho.

To be fair, 5-6 would be plenty if we weren’t having to play them all because we have no attackers.

It’s still 6.

A squad of about 18-20 is fine if supplemented with decent youth players, problem is only two maybe three players deserve praise this season

To me it looks like a half built side, you’ve got ample choice in places but other your the bare bones. You can’t risk a second half of a season based on that CB options and if they do Slot will deserve more sympathy than he is getting.

That’s the nub of it. They aren’t going to sack the manager unless a replacement is lined up. I rather suspect that they don’t regard Slot as being the problem in the training set-up. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did bring in new coaching staff, just not the head honcho.

8 Midfielders when we won the title including Chirivela, also, keita, Ox.

We have 8 now including Endo & Bacjetic!

So you purposely misinterpreted the @jaffod post. Not cool.

Our squad size in terms of sheer numbers is totally fine, but it’s not well balanced. The 22 group is very good (although in it, we have Leoni and Ngumoha and Nyoni is basically our “23rd” player), it’s the 11 where we’ve struggled.

In some areas (forward positions) we have a bit too much let’s say starting quality or reputation and certainly not enough clarity who starts and how it functions, in other areas (CB and arguably on the wings) we’re a bit too light.

Arsenal’s balance, strength in depth this season looks the best. Although they are carrying one or two extras, which can happen if you enter the season with some long term injuries (Jesus), but that’s doable for a short while, it’s not too much. Happened with us under Klopp also.
