Arne Slot - Head Coach

I see Heintiega has joined Spurs as a coach.

Interesting news, thanks.

It’s hard to fully know what’s what behind the scenes, as we aren’t there and we are all guessing, but I’ll share the impression I have with that caveat noted.

It looked to me as though Heitinga was a good intermediary between the players and Slot and arguably something has been lost there with the move to Van Bronckhorst.

We have no idea about these things and it’s dependent on media finding out more information for us or, with time, we get more clues. And Heiting was here for 1 season.

People also make decisions due to different on and off the pitch factors or motivations. Them, their families if they have one, etc.

It makes me think if he was any good…
LFC would have brought him back

Pfft, this is arrogance personified. Once or twice, is understandable even if you’re right. Coming off that way to something relatively subjective is just… meh.

Indykaila is stirring shits up again, claiming that Slot to be sacked in the summer - indicators are (1) lack of signing in Jan-2026, (2) not bringing Heitinga back into the fold.

You mean he is guessing for clicks again.

Given the way the question is worded, I think that if we scrape into the top four (or five) with the kind of football we are seeing now, i.e. dull and uninspiring, the owners would, and in my opinion should, conclude that they don’t want to offer Slot a contract extension. At that point Slot would not want to stay as a ‘lame duck’ as @JibJab said, and would leave with the club’s gratitude and the rest of his contract paid up.

Yeah Legs, that’s what I meant. If we continue playing as we are until May and end up just making top four, maybe on the last day or something.

I see us getting better but CL concerns me becoming a distraction or exposing us to yet more injuries.

I’m not saying I want us out of it, but for me focus has to be CL qualification next year.

Let’s drop out the CL so we can have CL next season. Don’t get that at all.

Slot on Ramsay:

“I think it’s great for Calvin where he is at the moment,”

“Half a year ago he came back to this club, to the U21s, and of course everyone who is playing for the U21s is hoping for a moment, for a chance.

“But it’s a big, big, big chance that he’s having now to come to the first team.

“So when someone is really unlucky with the injuries that we’re having there is always a player that benefits from that, and Calvin is one of them.

“He’s with us, but I still think I have better options to play.

“But the moment I run out of options he has shown, in the one game he played against Palace and the moments he trained with us, that he is good enough to be in and around our players.

“Then sometimes you have to wait for a chance to show this to the rest of the world.

But in this moment of time I have, in my opinion, still better options than him.”

I know he’s being honest, but I just don’t see the wisdom in saying it out loud whatsoever. He did the same thing with Endo earlier in the season.

Maybe, it acts as an incentive for Ramsay, but it just doesn’t seem like the best man management. Far from it.

Drivel. So let’s play Szoboszlai there because he’s better in midfield!

That was the one comment that I found was a bit annoying to be honest. Rest is fine.

Ja, that’s just shit.

Basically it’s, “He’s a great lad, but I really wouldn’t play him unless I was completely and utterly desperate:weary_face:

If I was any player whose manager / coach was saying that publicly, I’d be contacting my agent.

I question whether any of this is really news?

We know the players he likes and doesn’t (has no use for), telling us 3728 years later makes no difference. The action does all the talking in circumstances like this.

Slot’s been doing a fantastic job of late to turn things around, let the man carry on.

I’d hazard a guess that the player (so, also agent) has been told the same (and in more detail) privately well before publicly today.

:joy:

Anything wrong ? Expecting someone who has almost zero top league experience and barely played in the last two years to contribute significantly is being a daydreamer.

Ramsay has barely played any senior football beyond a few games on loan. He’s nowhere near ready. Assume Slot is just trying to protect him from fans’ expectations
