Not sure I’d be bringing it up in a presser but I’m ok with that. We were given an old fashioned football lesson by PSG twice last year. To me, it exposed how shit the PL actually is.

Yup. That’s along the lines of what I’m seeing. Just a series of half chances, poor quality efforts, or even nothing, despite this amazing possession stat. It looks forced, out of shape and a mess.
That is not controlling the game imo, especially if you concede chances yourself.

I understand that, but he is being wheeled out in front of the media four or five times a week while the squad is stuggling and he is struggling. Do you think you wouldn’t say daft things in that glare, under that pressure.

It more exposed how shit League Un is.
There are no easy games for us. We had to play difficult games all around that tie. Who did PSG have to play. Didn’t they rest their entire squad or something ridiculous.
Still needed pens to put us away.

The problem with our situation is Slot is going to be criticized almost no matter what he says. It’s a by-product of not being close to where we want to be, or probably expected to be.
If I am looking at his comments kindly, he’s basically trying to say that playing twice a week is hard, especially against well rested opponents in the Prem who have had all week to prepare for the game.
He has a bit of a point, but then again not really, because we are Liverpool and as a big team we expect the added load that comes with playing in the Champions League.
If Slot is going to stay longer, he will need to revise his view about wanting a small squad to work with, and he will need to expand his horizons to regularly rotate in a few more players than he does now. That’s how you manage the load.
Alternately, you take the side so low that European football is off the table, and then luckily you only have one game a week. Er, nope. Can’t do that.

Just getting top 4 last season would have been acceptable. Not getting top 4 this season is unacceptable. Doing better than top 4 last season doesn’t excuse the mess we are seeing now. It has been a downward spiral since the day we officially won the league. A few scattered performances here and there doesn’t fill my mind with ease when we are getting consistently worse.

Exactly, our football kept getting slower and slower and it continued this season and currently we are not able to beat any team in the league because we don’t compete on the pitch.
And they were lucky against Arsenal, who were the much better team.

That’s true, and I understand Arsenal were closer to them than any other team despite being beaten by two clear goals.

That is the job. He is a leader and what he says matters. Both when speaking in and around the club, but also when speaking publicly. Saying shit that makes people give you the side eye is a sure fire way for people to lose trust in you and have your leadership authority erode. It doesnt happen with one misstep, but people have been raising eyebrows about the strangeness, the incongruity, of some of his public comments this year going back to September, back to when we were still unbeaten.
